    North east regretful owner

Recently. As in today. Purchased what has turned into a bit of a problematic dog of a car. Bought with my heart not my head.

    Cars a 2.8v6 coupe.

    Current list of issues.
Zero power. Luckily. After I turned it off outside my house.
    On drive home realised.
Intermittent loss of Indicators and wipers. High beams but can't flash them.

Strong smell of oil over 4k.

Judder in the clutch when it's been worked and has some heat in.
Knock in the rack if sharply turning
Possible miss fire. Has a rumble I'd like to call it. Not a full loss of a cylinder.

So. Question is. Is there anyone local to Newcastle. Who is very savvy with these things. I'm more of a honda man. And. Admittedly should have been alot more vigilant and test drove it properly. But. I didn't want to find problems.
I'd like to get a good opinion and list of faults. So work can begin.

    Cheers

Sounds like you've bought a bit of a dog mate!?

I use Autobahn in Hexham for all my Audis and they are absolutely superb highly recommend them.

Hope you didnt drive it too far sounds dangerous!!?

      Kent. Ha ha

I wanted a coupe and a quattro platform so bad. I bought on a bit silly head. Really didn't test it at all.

To tired to look. But currently. Couldn't get it over there. Going to bed. Before I cure it with fire.

Was kinda hoping for a local with good knowledge I could pay with 'beer tockens'. Can point a a few issues i can work through.

Getting to a garage is a little difficult at present . And leaves me in a bent over a barrel position

Zero power? No ignition lights no nothing? Could be something as simple as a goosed battery ? Maybe alternator packed in on the drive home and now no charge in the battery? Ign switch maybe? Have you checked the battery terminals?
Light and wiper issues sounds like a stalk/switch issue.
Oil leak, I think v6 is known for leaks?
Knock from rack could be the damper, I'm assuming it has one?
Misfire could be a dodgey oil soaked lead or just a plug?

Chin up man, it's not a new car. 2.8 is quite rare

              Absolutely nothing.

Had the rear fog light switch flashing. Immobiliser apparently. Even that has stopped.

Battery is fully charged. Earth's and connections seem good. No blown fuses.

Only fuse I could see under the dash. A 60amp one was fine.

Is there a relay that could be responsible?

Hazards don't work either. Which made me the problem wasn't ignition switch related

Battery under rear seat or under bonnet?
I'm not familiar with the battery cable routing on the V6

Under bonnet. New ish. Is fully charged to.

Oddly. Came outside this morning. Sidelights where on after leaving the car in a completely dead state.
Centeral locking worked. Turned them off. Back to dead. Battery still had a good charged. Charged up anyway. Still nothing

Ok I think there are two wires from the plus terminal of the battery, a fat one to the starter / alternator
And a thinner one to the fuse box
On my 3B the thinner one was bolted to the battery terminal with a 6mm bolt. Have a look and see if it's like that and see if that connection is ok.

Ok so the smaller wire goes to the fuse box, you can see the bottom of the fuse box if you take out the drivers side cubby hole thing below the steering wheel.
The wire has a massive spade connector on the end.
If you can test for power there and you have 12v then I reckon the prob must be in the fuse box itself
