They sure do, that really is immaculate.

Is there a way of ensuring that it doesn't 'fade' away and the finish deteriorates ?

Vapour blasting keeps a lot longer from fading compared to just glasbead blasting.
With the abressive material used in combination with water you get a more closed struture on the alloy surface. From my experience it last's a lot longer then glasbead treated parts and better as painted items.

Today I've got some more vapor blasted parts
If anybody is interested I can get you in touch with the guy that cleaned my parts.

I've had the parts done at http://www.vaporblasting.be

Located near Leuven. But if needed parts can be dropped off at my place (near Aarschot)

Last parts is back from cleaning. Cleaned inside and outside

Engine has all seals renewed now. Just need to get the set of stretch bolts for the cylinderhead. I've ordered all gaskets but forgot to add the stretch bolts. I've put a few old ones in by hand just to have it as one unit and prevent dirt to find it's way.

Engine is in the car. Intake manifold and coolant manifold are not on yet. As I need the O-rings from the coolant manifold first. So far I've only found them on audi tradition. If that is the only place I can better leave it off for now and check what else I need from them.

Today I put in the cams, water pump and timing belt. Also put on some more clean bits. Still a lot of wires and pipes to go

It has been a while since I posted here. Bit of a busy time lately. So progress is a bit slower. Today I replaced all the foam from the heater box.
Most of it crumbled to pieces while pointing at it. But now it's all clean again and good to go back in. Normally tomorrow I have some more time to continue. Will put it bak in the car and put the dashboard back.

I made some paper templates so If there is interest in these I could make a set.

After speaking to another belgian S2 forum member he handed me his heaterbox. So nu update on my car but another S2/RS2 heaterbox repaired today.

If anybody needs a set of foam cut to size I can make some more for 25 euro/Set
I can write instructions for heater box rebuild. Easy job but patience is needed for keeping the plastic tabs in one piece.

It’s a bit of a pain of a job having to take the dash out. Did you change the matrix at the same time?

Yes heater matrix changed while it was out. Cheap enough to exchange for peace of mind. Dash removal is a lot of work indeeed. But I needed to place all wiring looms including ECU loom.
It's a good winter project. Just pull the box and take it indoor

Dropped of some parts at the body shop for some new paint. 4th door trim and front bumper will go to the body shop this week. Looking forward to getting this on the car in the correct color

Bumper and side mirrors mounted. Also the lower door trims are mounted.
Still need to get the intercooler back to OEM black. Someone did this one in silver for some reason. -> not my taste
Engine turns over on the starter motor. fuel pump is disconnected at the moment so will not start yet.
still plenty to do and progress is slow as work and family come before this build.

fabric for headliner upholstery is also sitting at home. Just need to get myself motivated for scraping all that sticky stuff from the headliner first.
