Hi fellow Audi fans!

I'm maybe not 100% welcome in this forum, but at least 50% welcome with my latest project:

I am big fan of almost all Volvo cars and the Audi inline five as well. Some years ago my brother and I put an Audi 10v N/A engine in an old and rusty Volvo 240. The music from the 10v Audi engine was incredible, but its host faded away and died due to the rusty floor, sills, wheel arches and doors.

Don't be alarmed dear members of this forum, it is time to give birth to the son of the car mentioned above:

The engine

-Volvo V70 tdi 2,5l engine block
-Volvo V70 tdi crankshaft
-PO H-beam conrods from Finland
-JE 8,5:1 pistons
-20v head from Audi 7a
-Turbonetics T04S turbo
-Autronic SM4 engine management system
-2x Bosch 044 fuel pumps
-Gearbox from Volvo V70 tdi
-etc, etc...

No. The petrol units are Volvo engines, developed in conjunction with Audi

The Volvo IL5 petrol engine is not similar to the Audi five at all I'm afraid. It's all alu and a modern construction. But it's not the famous Audi five

Seem to remember reading somewhere that the petrol I5 volvo block is aluminuim.
I think Audi helped Volvo when they designed their I5 petrol engine.
Could be wrong though.

whats the difference then ? can you use anything from the volvo engine for the s2 ? whats the bore and stroke ? are the heads the same ? sorry about all the questions but i'm really curious.

Petrol Volvo engines are as similar to an S2 IL5 as a Rover V8 is to an Audi V8.

2 completely different units.
