  • Turbosmart solonoid replacement for N75?

Was looking at a danish homepage that sells turbosmart products.

They actually write that the TS-0301-3003 3-port solonoid valve is a direct replacement for the N75 valve on 1.8T.

So perhaps this could be a replacement for the N75 on the S2?

However i can't seem to find any info on the solonoid valve on turbosmart's homepage, but it does seems a nice bit of kit.

My secret is out! I've been looking at these and other solenoids for quite some time.

Yes but remapping maybe needed, what I found is other valves need lower frequency duty than the WGFV to produce the same boost.

This one was the only that was suppose to have the same duty cycle as an N75

          Ofcourse:
          http://shop.scanturbo.dk/pi/TurboSma...l_1802_27.aspx

It is in danish but I can translate to english:
Denne 3 vejs ventil er lynhurtig og præcis.
Bruges til alle motorstyringer, også originalt monterede.
F.eks. opgradering til VAG 1.8T motoren.
          Inkl. studse og ledninger.
This 3-way valve is fast and precise.
Used for all types of ECU's also for stock ECU's.
As an example it can be used as an upgrade for the VAG 1.8T engine.
The valve comes with nipples and hoses.

In the name of science I have now bought one

I will prep it and make it ready to fit with and audi connector etc.
I will then bring it to my tuner at the 15 november 2008 and I'll get him to try and map the car with this valve, and see if it works or not.

I wonder if this could be the same as the GMC Typhoon/Syclone boost solenoid. Popular upgrade with the scooby crowd. I'm using one of these for my switchable boost setup: 1.2 bar boost (WG spring only) or adjustable (now 2bar) via Turbotech MBC with the flip of a switch.

Be glad you're not on your 3rd engine. N75 is not coming anywhere close to my engine again. Way too many horror stories with these things leaking and sending boost skywards.

Yes it is except the GMC needs less duty cycle

So this turbosmart 3-port solenoid can be considered a heavy duty replacement for N75 / WGFV without ECU tweaks on mapping ?

There will of course be some adaptation by the ECU for this - it would be cool if this H/D device works without any software tweaks, but I'll happily research it if tweaks are required on ABY or 3B.

One idea for a 4-port application of this device is a means to steer pressurised air onto the upper chamber of the WG... Bit like the way MB/MC engines ran if memory serves correctly - hence why we have that nipple on the WG cap. Suspect this mode would require remapping as its more of a fundamental change of boost control versus a hardened variant of the 3-port WGFV.

Well according to the danish website, then it is a replacement for the N75 used on 1.8T and since they use S2 N75 valves I would think that it was a direct replacement.

However I guess testing is needed.

Page 21 of the Turbosmart catalog has a heavily modified Audi S2 - cool... Thats pretty rare and is proof enough for me these guys aren't just looking after the go-faster Subaru crowd. Note also how its trendy to be a 'sleeper' now as well - see what we've started

                              Bit confused actually.

I thought that the duty cycle used on the valve was generated by the ECU? If this is then case, then I pressume that the valve simply needs to have same open/close specs as the N75 valve.

I was thinking that you could make a small setup where you give the two valves the same voltage and then apply pressure and meassure what the pressure is at the other side?

Or maybe I'm completely off here.
