  • Yet another 996 314mm upgrade

    Hi.

My 80 2,3 20V Avant was sold yesterday, and before the missus gets her filthy hands on the money, I started power shopping for brake parts for the unstoppable S2. I'm copying this upgrade : http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showpos...&postcount=156

I started the shopping here : http://www.ebay.de/itm/320753691104 and then a pair of Bambridges slimline brackets was ordered.

Next up - dust seals, disks, pads and hardlines. Any pic's of modified hardlines with this or similar upgrade?

Dust seals from here I think : http://www.porschecalipers.co.uk/shop/dustseals/ What size do I need for the 996.351.425?

I'm looking into splash plates soon - I think I would like them to be there.
    Cheers, Torben

The brackets are available from user bambridge on here. I've just fitted my calipers and they work perfectly with 314mm disc and fit under standard 16" wheel.

Any pic's of modified hardlines with this or similar upgrade?
For the brake lines I just used an L shaped piece of copper brake pipe at the end of the standard flexi. It's tricky to make the flare at the end of such a short pipe though, most decent flaring tools require the pipe to be a certain minimum length.. I borrowed one from a garage Didn't take pictures unfortunately...

Brakelines - could I get away with buying a set like these :
              http://www.porschecalipers.co.uk/shop/brakelines/mk5/
              or
              http://www.porschecalipers.co.uk/shop/brakelines/mk4/
              ?

I dig the thought of a bolt on conversion

One supplyer for pads, lines and dust seal wouldn't hurt either.
              Cheers, Torben

You could just buy the RS2 hardlines instead. They just need a slight bend to work and they are cheap. I just them for my conversion.

Bingo - thank's for the tip. AZF to the rescue. Any ideas for a reasonable source for brembo 314*30 discs?
                      Cheers, Torben

You could try AZF as well, when I did my conversion I got some Zimmerman 323x30 dics for a really nice price.

Or you could email "Blondie" on audiclub.dk and ask him, I think he bough some Brembo disc cheap for his Audi S6 Plus from a Uk site.

I bought Brembo A8 discs off the bay of fleas recently, lots on there. Good friction from the Brembos in comparison to the GSF discs I bought last time..
