I bought my 20v urquattro with me from New Zealand with the intention of getting it on the road here and enjoying the driving pleasure only a quattro can give.
Well,it appears I cant!!No insurance company I have contacted in the UK,including classic insurers, wants to know about it!The car is ex UK,so was registered here before being shipped to NZ some years ago.
The car is lowered, chipped and has an aftermarket exhaust,so its not standard, but its not a race car either!I have a NZ licence,no no claims bonus, and no way of proving my good driving record from NZ.
I only want third party insurance, will drive it only a maximum of 6000 miles a year, will park it off the road and Im 56 years of age and have not had an accident for over 30 years!!!It makes no difference.
To say the least,Im really pissed off!!!
Since I only want third party, fire and theft insurance,I obviously dont want to pay an arm or any other part of my body to insure it.The fact is they dont have to cover me for anything, only third parties. But it makes no difference, the car does not seem to be insurable, for me,in the UK.
What do I do now???Any constructive help would be appreciated.
