  • Audi RS2. How many are left . . . ?

Prompted by recent post on the forum, I decided to enquire with the DVLA to find out how many RS2's are still on the road....

The DVLA directed me to the Department of Transport and here's the results...
(Will try to add link to Excel spreadsheet for full breakdown in excel format)

It makes for interesting reading. : ) The results are dated from Sept'06

Wow - I didn't know you could get such info... Can you PM me the details of how to get that info - no point in all of us trying to ring up the DoT for that info on the S2 Coupe & Avant !

Igrees has kindly sent me the contact details. I just need the reg plate from a current S2 Avant owner so that I can seed the search for that vehicle type. I have the other two Coupe options covered.

          Really interesting read.

Looking at the North Eastern region and it shows how rare RS2's are. Mine is only one of two that are licenced in this area.

Thats how I haven't seen another one.

            Good work.
Told you could try the DVLA. Think I also said over 100 will still be around. However the one problem is you cannot sort LHD/RHD numbers which really fails to answer your original question (how many RHD left ?)

Yes, the original question stands un-answered. I have requested some more info on this
              split. Fingers crossed.

Seems a bit odd for 33 to be simply un-licensed...

That 33 is a total of all unlicensed - crashed/exported etc - look at the spreadsheet !

It does but I guess if you checked out 'Vauxhall Corsa' you would put that figure into perspective

But if you look at Yorkshire and Humberside, there are none in the 4 listed 'unlic:' categories, yet 5 are listed as unlicensed... Maybe if you can afford to keep an RS2 lurking in your barn, it's easier just to pay the fines that drop through the letterbox than register it as SORN...

Out of the 180 rhd RS2s manufactured, you have to take into account that not all of them came to the UK.
Certainly a number went to other rhd markets such as South Africa, Australia/NZ & the Far East.
I would imagine that would get the starting figure of rhd RS2s in the UK down to around 150.
Yes they are a very rare car....................so why I have just sold mine

                        Hi Paul,

Not quite. That's what I thought too at 1st glance....

However, if you take the total of GB cars 212
                        less 129 licensed
                        less 17 SORN
                        less (10+7+12+4) various unlicensed {yes, 10+7+12+4 does equal 33, but...}

This still leaves 33 cars !! hence my earlier comment
                        - perhaps there really are 33 'lost RS2's in barns dotted accross GB?

Excuse my ignorance, but what does 'SORN' mean?

                            SORN- statutory off road notification

ie If the vehicle isn't taxed you have to register it as such.

I'd be interested to know how many of all S2 variants are left! People keep asking me how rare my car is, and I say, well Rare, but im not 100%!
...ever since I floored you I knew that I loved you!
