This one does a lot of the engines, and made/sold by our very own Error404 :

Our small chassis crank locking tool is similar to the factory 2084 locking tool but has been revised to allow use with the ABY/ADU front damper pulley which the 2084 tool did not. Suitable for use with the ABY, ADU, 3B, RR, WR, MC and 7A engines, as well as any which utilise the factory 2084 locking tool. Please note this tool is NOT suitable for use with the AAN 5 cylinder engine.See our AAN crank locking tool for your AAN engine.TIG welded and zinc plated with gold passivate for corrosion protection.

    Which engine code is yours?

That's probably the reason why I've been reading about some tools not fitting certain cars.

Yes, looks like mine but be aware that air con cars need the correct version.

Cheers, So do I. This time tomorrow I will be on a train heading south staying at a friends house overnight. I booked a one way ticket! I'm 99.9% sure the car is good and will see it on Saturday.

Also need to find a supplier that can supply the belt, tensioner, idler pulley's and the water pump.

I have just used it on my ABY. it is the correct one.

I use Pete at Quattro corner, he can supply OEM ancillaries...

Will add that to the shopping list.. It's starting to get expensive

That's another option as well, I've seen a few youtube video on making your own tool. I'm still surprised how tight that bolt has to be.

I know the car is due a cambelt due to age, so that will be the first job that gets down on the car, just need to find or make a crank holding tool and buy a 450+NM torque wrench

Ha - mine has an AMD remap from back in the day and never goes over 25 even grannying it.... I would be cautious with an unknown car...

    Cheers

I used to use mine from Sussex to Manchester week in, week out and driven normally you’ll get over 33mpg. If you’re careful that can come up to 36mpg easily.
