I am an electronic systems engineer - long time in telecoms originally with roles in product support, systems design, product management and solutions marketing.

Moved over to the TV world about 12yrs ago. Current role as pre-sales architect for IP video solutions - all that tricky stuff between the content provider and connected devices that everyone takes for granted.

Since dealing with CFS for three years now, I also took up metal detecting as a gentle pursuit to get me outdoors without nailing my energy too much. It is a hobby but has turned in to quite a good earner without me intending it to. For example, I currently have the attached item going through the treasure process in the UK. It is an incredibly rare solid gold Medieval Intaglio Seal Matrix dating to around the late 12th/early 13th century. Although the treasure process will likely result in a "reward" of around the £10k mark, it is probably worth closer to £20-25k on the private market. Hopefully it is disclaimed allowing me to put it in to a specialist auction if the landowner (my brother in law) wants to. Me personally, I would rather keep it in my collection as it is stunningly beautiful but my hands may well be tied. We shall see but the British Museum is all over it like a lampshade, so I would imagine they will want it. The hobby does provide a plethora of other fairly valuable finds but my collection is just growing rather than being cashed in. A retirement nest egg if you like. I could also become a scrap metal dealer with the amount of utter crap I dig up.
I use do a bit of metal detecting when I was in my late teens, but living in rural Wales the fields aren't exactly gold mines, I did find the odd hammered penny but nothing of any serious value. I gave up after exhausting the land I had access to, 99.9% of the stuff I found had zero value most of it being non de-script parts of agricultural machinery.

The seal you've found is exquisite, it must have been quite a rush cleaning the dirt of it and realising what you'd found, as you say I can imagine the British museum is rather keen on acquiring it as it's an exponentially rare item. Makes me want to go out and buy a new machine as the technology that goes into them has come on a vast amount in the past 20 years.

I still collect British hammered silver coins as investments but I only purchase the odd one when I have a bit of spare money....which isn't very often when running an S2 everyday as well as restoring an RS2.

I do seasonal work, but generally passenger vehicle driving, I've worked a fair number of ski seasons which is what I'm currently doing, I work for the mountain and spend a lot of my time driving coaches, an equal amount patrolling the road which can be very interesting, unfortunately I can't share any of the pictures of various vehicle recoveries, but this is what I drive,

the big pad on the front is for pushing cars when they get stuck, which they do, a lot! Winter tyres are yet to become popular here.

I spent the summer driving tour buses which was quite enjoyable, probably something I'll go back to at some point.
