  • Bluetooth speaker kits

Hi geeks just wondered if anyone was into electronics and making thier own stuff, I aim to start making my own Bluetooth Speakers and am looking for a supplier of the parts to do this, any help advice or pointers in the right direction would be great

I made more loudspeakers than my wife wants to remember

for the easy part: BT kits can be picked up from fleabay or dx.com, or alibaba

the before I write 4 pages of nerdy audio ramblings, a few questions:
    • where should they be going? living room? portable?
    • what's the budget?
    • what is your skill level in woodworking and electronics?
    • What size?
    • what are your expectations for the sound quality?

As henkjan says if you answer the questions above. There are quite a few different kits around though

Placement could be anywhere around the house or even outdoors

Budget is flexible but I think maybe £250 limit

Skill level is moderate I can solder and use tools as I need to, woodworking isn't needed as I intend to use old items such as radios etc to turn into bluetooth spekars

Max size speakers will be 5 inch

Sound quality needs to be reasonable nothing spectacular maybe equal to £100 to £200 of the shelve speaker

With the budget you have it might be worth considering https://www.mopidy.com/ with a decent DAC coupled up to hifi amp and speakers. Add a phatdac to your pi https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi...CABEgIt-_D_BwE and get a second hand amp and speakers

If you want to use an existing design, then it should be for a speaker of approx the same dimensions as the new "box" you want to use. Both bass unit and crossover design are tied to that

then you need to find a low power consumption amplifier (class D), that will run on 12V

I'll do search for some projects to serve as examples

Makes sense Rikki, so you're planning on buying up old kit adding bluetooth ability then selling on?

I'd suggesting having a look through on aliexpress.com as there is all sorts of kit on there that you could try.

Yes that is the plan seen some lovely old Bakelite type radios that are no longer working or repairable and thought why not up-cycle them

for the amp: look for e.g. Ta-2024 based kits, they have low power consumption and should run on 12V

project for a portable speaker on a boat: http://forum.zelfbouwaudio.nl/viewto...rdicht#p164231
(you'll probably want to use google translate, it's in Dutch)
