I've always put off changing the front brakes as unless really pushed they are fine. I intend to keep it original hence why I kept the sais system and original suspension. (except black poly bushes).
I could be tempted by a miltek but tbh my original exhaust is spot on. I quite like the understated exhaust note etc. I've driven a number of B5s that are savagely fast. I'm quite happy with the 380 hp though.
My mates C5 Rs6 runs on KWs and its terrible so I stuck with standard springs/shocks. Firm but compliant etc.

Brakes were on it when I bought it. I have a set of stock ones which I put on for a while after the accident but I ended up going back to the B7s. The car had some truly aweful coil overs on so I swapped for a second hand stock setup but wasn’t happy so bought the B6 kit. The Bilstein Eibach kit is a bit more compliant than stock which is great cos the roads are terrible round here.
Losing the AIS gives a load of space round the back of the engine bay, no precats means no heat shields too, loads more access. I’ve kept all the parts if I ever was to sell ..

Yeah I can see the benefit of binning the sais. Getting rid of combi valves pumps and pipes etc

I put eibach springs on an A3 s line I owned years ago. Better than the original crashy suspension by far.

Rs6 C5 cambelt. Very similar to 2.7 with exception of the additional eccentric tensioner

Cams can wear, some were replaced under warranty.
VVT actuators seize/ leak it will rattle for a few seconds on start up.
                  EGTs are expensive
They had a long life oil service schedule which is stupid for a high performance turbo engine, engines can be filthy inside with laquer build up.
                  Turbos , check for smoke
All the suspension bushes and drive train bushes. There are many!
When you do the bushes, take the half shaft off with the leg in one piece or the wheel bearings will go very soon after!

A few S2 owners have gone to b5 Rs4's it seems. Awesome bit of kit. Map and exhaust is mandatory though!

When they run well 380hp is enough on our roads. I personally don't feel the need for anymore. When the exhaust is rotten I will get a miltek

I've had mine since 2004 and only use it from April to end of September. My one is modified though and sometimes I wish I had kept it (suspension wise) standard . They are still stunning to look at and I like the very rare aspect unlike the modern RS models which the world and his dog seem to have .

If I do sell mine I'll be gutted. But an extension looms and it would pay for what I have planned... We'll see what happens..

If you can do keep hold of it . They are only going to increase in value albeit not at the rate of the RS2 in recent years .

Prices seem to fluctuate widely and I do wonder how many of the high prices ones actually sell. I would estimate I've doubled my money on this one though. As I tell the wife it's better than money in the bank
