Incidentally, you can drive the car (slowly ) with the rear diff locked when this happens, mine failed as I pulled out of my friend’s driveway onto a busy road!

If it is a broken shaft, I have one spare at home, but I would need to measure it as I don't know which side it's off. I also have a set of the Russian tank shafts which I could fit to free up the OE shafts on my motor if you can't find what you need. I've snapped two rear shafts and both of mine sheared off just inboard of the outer CV.

Rear passenger side. So rear left Steve.

Does anyone know which side at the rear has the longer driveshaft? I have one of the longer shafts (545mm) already off the car. I seem to have broken two of the shorter shafts previously.

Short ones always break more often, less material to twist.

I believe the longer one is the right hand side, as the left has the difflock actuator etc to clear, so the shaft is shorter.
