        Project

Shorty widebody B3 with TTVR6. Basically my project car right now, only instead of the V8 a VR6 and and foot hacked out of the bodywork.

OR a VW Saveiro with 4wd conversion and a high strund TDI OR a VW Taro duneracer with a VR6 or V8 or TDi V8.

Its a small block v8 that he's got in the car. Quite nice and nippy.

I'd love to do a rwd sierra with the 2.9 v6 in just for 200bhp v6 soundtrack and rwd plus the cossie look even if it does not have the power.

              Great minds!

A 993 turbo/splitty hybrid has been done - some hilarious footage of it kicking Aston **** on the 'tube - would so love one! Have a drool here!

If I get a good offer for the 16v Golf come show season, I'll be going the Caddy route, would be wicked to 4x4 one with either the 1.8t or a PD Tdi...

If you want unusual / strange - I've always had a hankering to put an Audi 4.2 v8 into a Porsche 924s / 944, add Carrera GT / lightened bodywork and paint it white like the prototypes. Mmmmm, one day...

just for a laugh/windup to annoy the guy who's now with my x I was tempted to slap a saab turbo into a carlton and just up the boost apparantly they bolt up to the g/b and if my 2litre auto was anything to go buy should be solid.

Used to be able to be doing 60 in the carlton and drop it into reverse spin up the rear wheels and drop it back into drive no probs.

Last time I want to own a vauxhall tho.

If I wrap my bmw bad enough, I think that is where my running gear would go then take it stage rallying.

What about the early XR4 and XR4i? Admittedly a 2.8 and with a little less power but still RWD.

If I went earlier than the sapphire shape (which is easier to find and cheaper) it would have to be a 3 door cossie rep with the engine in, tho I have been tempted by a v8 in the bay on carbs as i've seen that done a few times.

V8 seems to be a popular choice and up there with a Cossie conversion on them. The early 3-door XR4 and XR4i's are mega rare now. Used to be a black one up the road from a few months ago for sale, looked really nice.

I thought this could be a good thread but at this rate is going to cost me money

Well I spent today thinking a bit more about the sapphire cosworth rep and how I'd go about it.

The actual car is quite easy to do on the whole as you can just use a bog standard sapphire in the colour of your choice (tho genuine cossie colours is easier) and just fit the kit to it and the interior.

Its the engine part which has been interesting me whilst I pass the time in my mundane day job. I have two options which have interested me:

1 :- the 2.9 v6 cosworth lump from a granada - so I can use the cossie badge on the rear. The actual engine does go in quite easily but could benifit from having a 4x4 rear diff for the lsd. The actual wiring for the engine is quite easy being just 5 wires to get it going (providing the model you have had injection)

2 :- a 2 litre zetec from a mundano with a turbo slapped on the side for measure. Cheaper than a cossie lump and imo more interesting. The exhaust and inlet is on the right side for this, you can use an rs turbo exhaust manifold (providing you sort the studs out) and an efi inlet manifold. The zetec loom can be modified to run a turbo quite easily as well.

Like I said this idea has the possibility to cost me money but its just an idea to pass the day atm. I would be surprised if others didn't think of ideas and projects they would like to do to pass time at work and it would be interesting to know ways people would go about these.

If I ever did do another project I would keep the s2 as well but I have always been one for more than one car at a time. Think i'm just going to save some money atm and when the time comes decide do I finish the s2 power upgrade considering i've quite a few bits for it now or do I save the money and get something simple/fun as a daily whilst the rebuild on the s2 happens?
