    Spot the Motorbike

A picture is worth a thousand words.

The Honda rider was traveling at such a 'very high speed', his reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police estimate a speed of ~250 KM/h (155 mph) before the bike hit the slow moving car side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the Swedish

Police and Road Safety Department. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.

At 250 KM (155 mph) the operator is traveling at 227 feet per second. With normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds the above operator would have traveled over 363 feet while making a decision on what actions to take. In this incident the Swedish police indicate that no actions were taken.

In other words, they didn't even have time to say, 'Oh, ####!'

Or even an even rarer RC30?? Nah, doubt it back wheel far to small for either i reckon. Could actually be an RVF400 mind but still wouldnt make the 155.

Still bad news hitting the golf at 130mph whatever tho...

Whos to say it was the bikers fault?

I don't conndone this sort of thing but most accidents involving bikes are caused by car driver not looking and not waching. I used to work at a pub in Harrogate where all the bikers go and most of them are sensible but just like us lot in cars they like to have a mad 5 mins. It is a shame and a major loss for some people. If it was a cross section and the biker hit the side of the car then the car must have pulled out
Just some finishing touches to do now

I've seen that before but it doesn't make it any less shocking. Biker shouldn't have been doing that sort of speed but we've all had out moments of madness and got away with them, just takes someone to have poor judgement or the conditions to be poor and that's it. Girl was killed in my home town pulling out in front of a Porsche doing 110mph in a 40 zone, it was at night and she misjudged the speed of the lights approaching.

Bikers need to take more responsibility for this kinda thing - fair enough it is harder to see them sometimes and some car drivers do pull out on them - BUT at the speed this bike was going then he was an accident waiting to happen. Just so tradgic to take 2 innocents with him.

Its not always new young bikers that cause problems - most serious accidents and fatalities nowadays are caused by the mid-life-crisis bikers... You know the ones that got a bike test when they were 17, raced around on 125 and 250cc machines before they grew up, got cars, married, kids, divorced and a bit of a podge on... They go out and buy a ferkin Honda Firestarter and think they are Barry Sheene. If they are real lucky they fall off, break a limb or two and get away with 6 months physio.

Just last Sunday we got overtaken at 120+ mph by some stupid **** on a big sports bike - wearing jeans and a T-shirt, swerving in & out of lanes. With traffic up ahead he lifts off, takes both hands off the bars and flaps his arms like he's flying along.

What a dime bar... Maybe he was ******. I know all bikers aren't that stupid and they get a bad rap, but its those ones that give the rest a bad name.

                        Cheers,

                              Yep.

They must've taken the bike out, cleaned the car of bits and put the bike back again.. Actually the bike may have been replaced with a less broken one.

When I was a lad one of the guys from the local biker cafe put his triumph bonnie through a removal van at 100MPH.. didn't take anyone with him though.

Its astonishingly easy to reach 155 on a superbike, just a twist of the wrist and a few seconds later there you are, dab the brakes and your back down at 60, its the calibration of your brain that can't keep up.
