    Possible projeckt alpinweiss II

Thinking about taking the alpinweiss to the next level now that I'm getting a second car. This would involve reducing weight and focussing the car more towards track work. So stripped interior, lightweight seats, cage, harnesses etc. Then as and when it wares out the suspension would be improved. The problem is that as my car is an ABY coupe it's still worth c£5k and the value would be affected pretty badly by the aforementioned mods as it's a limited market. That said it has some rust on the front wings and has done 163k.

For more of a racy look, sound and to save weight I'd be looking at getting a 3" turbo back side exit system with sports cat to replace the Milltek but apart from that everything would stay the same.

I'd hope to strip 100Kg or so out and a bit of that would go back in with a cage.

The brakes are fine and would stay the same.

Wishbones need polybusing, subframes alu mounts, top mounts need mount savers.

What do you guys reckon? I think I need something to take my mind of things... internet porn is getting boring after 6 months off

I like the way you voted on your own poll.

Tbh you've already made it obvious you want to track it so just get on with it

Would you get some really stiff coil overs and then bin the ARB's? If so... I am voting yes!

          How would it devalue it?
You can bolt it all back in just as easily as it is removed

Somebody might notice the holes in the interior for the Roll Cage!

              Cheers,

i guess a cage would make a massive difference to the chassis stiffness in these cars, I swear I can feel mine beinding in the middle sometimes

Unless you plan to sell it again any time soon, get it done

There wouldnt be any holes if the interior is removed first

Anyway, on a more serious note, when you mention putting in a cage, I REALLY hope you dont mean one of those bolt in "show cage" style things?
I have a friend who builds and designs dragster chassis, and fits proper cages to cars, he refuses to make or install bolt in cages as they can be more dangerous than not having one atall!

I'd have to sell the interior to fund the project. Carpets, leather, A/C blower box (replace with non A/C). Headlining and plastic would stay, rear door cards would go, fronts stay as they seal the door shuts.

I'd never put a chav cage in, this would be a proper cage designed for the purposes of stiffening and protecting. Margrev's project got me thinking, I'd need to get a quote on a cage though. Would want strut pickups in the rear, harness bar and not sure I want to destroy the dash with a bar through the middle of it...

Coilovers are the ultimate aim, KW V2 more than likely but for now it'll stay as is on stock stuff but with the addition of H&R springs. I'd never ditch the ARBs, what's your thinking there Terry

Regarding value of the car, is that really an issue?
Did you buy it to enjoy, or as an investment?
If its the latter, then you are in the wrong game lol
You own it, so enjoy it as YOU want to!

Andy, don't go whole hog with this on a whim. Strip the interior out but look at the cage later down the line when you know you are serious about what you want to do. But get all that weight out, makes a MASSIVE difference (trust me).
