Fatty's car isn't OEM though
that myth was dispelled a few years ago when he lost the Mr OEM title
Hpmuirt car is the most OEM car at the moment as he hasn't installed any of his mods. He has a large collection in his garage though

Nothing a couple of hours in the garage wouldn't solve.
You can't class Si's car as OEM. You can't what's what under all the dirt...

They're my road wheels. Just refurbed them with anthracite centres and polished lips. Not the best job but wanted to see them on the car. Got to do another coat or 2 of lacquer before puttting them back on, should look good. Got 4 new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 225/45R17 94Ys on there, they're great wet weather tyres. Ideally I'd like to replace them with some more lightweight alloys as the OZs are nearly 2.5Kg/corner lighter but that's money and I've not got the ebay luck of some around here

I take your point, I'm not in it for an investment but I'm not minted so the value of the car is important to me as it's all I've got towards my next car as and when that happens. Be a shame to spend lots to end up with a car that's worthless at the end of it. I doubt that'd happen but it's a genuine concern of mine.Regarding value of the car, is that really an issue?
Did you buy it to enjoy, or as an investment?
If its the latter, then you are in the wrong game lol
You own it, so enjoy it as YOU want to!

As Ben/Shark90 suggested and I've been thinking, I'm going to strip it out and see how I get on. The sound deadening needs replacing anyway and I want to fit a new alarm so it all ties in nicely.Cheers'en, AndyC

Nah, it's a road car that gets beasted, a bit like Si's but rather than put the parts in a safe place in the garage away from the missus, I fit them onto the car
He's still damned fast though, god knows what he'd be like when it's all RS2'd.
Lloyd, cheers for the link but they're avant as posted before. I think I need to rebuild the engine before getting coilovers though to make it rock solid and ready for 400bhp.Cheers'en, AndyC

Well well well ... I am biased on this one... I remember many years back when Andy was tortured by this car with air leaks and other niggles and it was up for sale. I thought seriously about buying it for one purpose - as a track day special. Two reasons : 1 - its an S2 Coupe, 2 - its white ! Money and time just wasn't there for me so I forgot about it...
I say go for it Andy. Here's what I would do -
strip it
seam weld it
cage it - a proper welded in multipoint cage from likes of Safety Devices
fit a sump guard - further stiffens the front and consider extra protection for gearbox and fuel tank if you happen to find kerbs n grass
fire extinguishers - at least one you can reach inside and I would fit a fireater with external trigger for inside and the engine bay
battery cut off - internal and external
bonnet and boot pins
Sorry to be boring, but seriously dont skimp on the safety aspect - you might only ever need it once, but when you do, you need it to work !
reinforce / fabricate some handy jack points - especially useful when car is even lower
fit wheel studs - all race cars have wheel studs !
fit a brake bias valve or an adjustable proportioning master cylinder
ditch the ABS (if you are brave) - its heavy
Fit a bigger oil cooler
and maybe a bigger radiator
Use the RS2 water pump -> higher flow rate than ABY one
Fit manual switches to control all the radfan speeds and one for afterrun as well
Add some brake ducts
Fit vented rears so you can achieve better balance (S4/S6/S8 combo for 280x20 bolt-on)
Consider even bigger fronts than you have now (where funds permit)
Air scoop on your front wing for proper cold air intake along with vents on the bonnet to let heat out
Alloy subframe mounts
Track density engine / tranny mounts
Fully adjustable coilover suspenders (when funds available)
Side exit zorst with scream pipe (unless too loud for some track noise rules)
Ported head, lightened/balanced bottom end with ARP studs - exotic / light internals where funds permit
Consider an LSD at the rear
Consider an LSD at the front (Quaife ATB for 01E where funds permit)
Add datalogging and other instrumentation (EGT, IAT, AFR, FPR etc)
Then get it painted up with de-rigeur Audi racing red-black regalia on that white body - it will look pheckin brilliant.
One word of advice wrt stripping the cabin and dashboard - keep enough of the hot air ducting and the heater matrix in the cabin so you can clear condensation from the screen when running anywhere that is potentially damp. Otherwise you will be tortured by poor visibility on anything less than perfect dry days.

Paul - bonnet vents are a massive myth and a big no-no IMHO.
I recently did some work with a mate to install a V-mount setup in his FD-3 and did a lot of testing to get the optimum cooling set-up.
We tested using a front undertray and vented and stock bonnet. Optimum cooling and intake charge temps were using the front undertray and stock, unvented bonnet - intake temps and coolant temps were consistently both 6deg C lower with this than when using vented bonnet, tested over various situations - high load 5th gear accelleration, 0-120 runs, and 80mph cruising.
The reason is that the bonnet is a high pressure area in the air flow over the car - bonnet vents create a lot of turbulence and air is actually sucked into the engine bay not exhuated out as you would think. By using a flat front undertray to the back of the engine bay you create a low pressure area under the car which sucks air out of the back of the engine bay and off under the car.
Even with a v-mount rad / IC set-up on the 13B engine renowned for running hot, the results speak for themselves.
Just thought i'd share my experiences
