This morning, a very annoying motorbike was in my mirror - carving up traffic and generally being a bit of a nob... We come up to a red light and he squeezes himself between me and a transit van at the line. I look over and its a big ish Honda of some sort - 500 or 600 I think. At the moment it hits amber I think, well if this cant wants to get past me - he's going to have to work for it...
There is two lanes of wide open dual carriageway ahead...
The light goes green, I open the tin and proceed to let out all of the beans - accompanied by the usual 5-cylinder symphony on maximum attack, the wailof the turbo and whine of the gearbox... The nose lifts and we are off.
In my left ear I can hear the snarling of the bike trying to keep up. Into 2nd with a fantastic gear shift (thank goodness for grace under pressure) and I figure the bike is gonna rip past me soon... I still hear it going into high revs - its obviously trying hard - but I still cannot see him. Woosh into 3rd and he's going backwards now - with the Ingolstadt sleeper more than able to pound into triple figures if I wished, but common sense prevails and I lift off the loud pedal with the point well made.
Cruising into the 40 zone and the bike casually passes me in traffic - he looked over - slightly curious no doubt of what the hell had just happened to him behind this anonymous looking old Audi. I smile and wave the international 'smoked' symbol... Then the adrenaline kicked in and fingers went a bit tingly. Bloody fantastic !
Gotta love this car even if it does drive me crazy some days.
