Nothing to worry about there, V6 Vectras are slow as ****!!

In the torrential rain last year at Bedford Autodrome, pretty much everything with 2 wheel drive (especially rear) was struggling, so I had a really good day. The **** driving the Honda NSX had no track day manners at all but happily became a white spec in the rear view mirror before that long. My mate in his 400bhp 300ZX was a bit put out when I then beat him at pool afterwards in the pub as well as leaving him behind on the track (up to the point my clutch disintegrated that is).

Absolutely nothing wanted to play when out the other night. A Mondeo ST220 tried it on from some lights, but it wasn't really all that fair, or that satisfying.

              Ck.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

I dont usually get much playing up here, just had an awesome blast with an Astra VXR though, followed by Karak in his Impreza struggling to keep up

The dual carriage way starting at kendal comes off a round about with a steep uphill climb. Its a favourite for having a blast because only things with any power can accelerate up the hill, as Ross can testify with his 3b coupe

This thing went round me at about 110 up another 2 lane climb before the dual carriage way, cut me up when it pulled back in and the game was obviously on. Came onto the round about, pulled to the right, shifted to 2nd ready to use the quattro round the corner onto the dual carriage way. Astra brakes hard, also on the right as there is some merc SLK hogging the 2 lanes, so i do too. The SLK moves over, Astra accelerates hard round the corner and i follow.

As Karak slowly dissapears behind me the Astra moves over to the left but i wasnt actually gaining on it that much. Slowly cruise side by side at about 100 and its obvious i have the edge, i back off slightly in 4th at this point, matching his acceleration, give a wave and continue my cruise past

I guess he wanted to show me up, young lad, shiny car, gf in the passenger seat etc - but failed

His Astra was clearly not standard though, to give me a bit of trouble up to about 80, from then on though he didnt have a chance.

I backed off when i shifted into 6th and let him past. Caught up with him a mile down the road, side by side, big grin on both of our faces, thumbs up, awesome blast, nice to have a good hoon with like minded folk once in a while

I think its more to do with owners.
Had an old boy zoom up my rear the other day ( in a car MR2 ) about an inch of my bumper. pulled up at the lights he went straight into the next lane and said what a shame that dont go as well as it looks:mischeif:
So i even let him pull of before my foot slipped on the loud pedal. flew past him and then at the next lights he wouldnt look over but i made sure he heard me shouting shame your car dont go like it looks you mean..
That kept me smilling for about a hour.
Although in true dork style he under took me doing about 80 in a forty a few miles down the road.

I pulled off the roundabout before a long straight in my golf, then spotted the bluish white bike behind me (i now think it was a R1).

I responded first and overtake the few cars in front and the bike followed.

3rd gear, 4th, 5th, and 6th and no bike passing atall, dont get me wrong he was a good few car lengths behind but dont tell me he was'nt trying to get past when he was travelling at +-140 mph :mischeif:

Then we hit more cars, he passed while i followed the cars with a big grin.

And he probably thought it was a standard golf.

Dont really know anything about BMW's, but JUST managed to beat an Alpina B10 (whatever that is) in a straight scrap on the dual carriageway yesterday coming out of Norwich. No standing starts, but 2nd gear through to 100mph+ I was edging away.
Anybody know what engines these BMW's have?

ps. He was very embarrassed as I dropped back and peared over at him after slowing down, he wouldnt even give me a glance

                          Cheers

The Astra VXR's seem faster than the book figures as my homefried series 2 Cq only just pulled ahead of one from a standing start a few weeks back on the dual carriageway near me and mine must weigh quite a bit less than a new Astra too. Pulled in behind me and flashed his lights so slowed down to stop my wife shouting at me..

They are quick, quick throttle response but a nurburg' vxr astra [white, with cheque decals, come with remus exhaust maybe another 15-20bhp ontop of the standard figure] was in a very close head to head with a 20v Ur, and all that has is a decent exhaust system.

I haven't beaten a single car yet, at least none that was trying. I don't know how you guys beat all the cars that are mentioned in this thread, I really don't think my 298 hp S2 is that fast, I know someone with a E36 M3 286 hp, but I guess it will be really hard to beat it.
