    Had the dreaded MOT today....

    Failed.

Rear fog lamp not working. ******!

Soon sorted out with a new fuse, no idea why it had blown.

Took an age to get the emissions to pass, but the car was very cold, so with Steve's recent problem of emissions in mind I asked him to get the cats really hot and it eventually passed.
I did get an advisory that the suspension was lowered

So one fuse later and it passed. Well pleased!

Mine failed from a duff fog light - which was quickly fixed - however the lack of reverse light caused not a flutter!
Advisement for having a noisy exhaust - this is my de-cat'd 3" full exhaust running two back boxes only - flew through the emission tests - despite the obvious lack of cat's.
Its nice that no matter where you take it - there is always someone there that used to work on them and has a really high regard - when I take it to Audi in Camberley 0- they are all drooling over it.......

I stood there for over 5 mins watching the screen keep flicking between green and red while he sat with the revs at about 5k, then evantually it did it... talk about stressful

My car was tested about 4 weeks ago, it failed on incorrect rotation on the tyres and incorrectly fitted top-mounts. Both parts were fitted by the garage that tested it, not happy. It passed after a few choice words from me. Now on the look out for a proper 'specialist' for old Audis in Scotland.

I thought I would have had emissions problems (one very small race cat, 3" full system), but that was no problem at all.

The whole reason why I got rid of my OEM ones earlier this year. Just couldn't bare to stand and watch them rev the **** off the engine Rad fan going bonkers trying to cool the engine.

And look where it got me

Good to see it passed Dest

Latest advice/rules from the Ministry is to advise on lowered suspension
and if anything is obviously non standard (i.e. upgraded!!)
All MOT garages are scored on a points system..... more points..... more visits.....more hassle..............
Some advise on EVERYTHING to cover their arses.
Older garages they do not like............ I had points against me the other week for not having the torque wrench calibration certificates !!!! And on an MOT You arent allowed to remove the wheels or any other item
                      Don't get me started.......................................

Sorry, I don't understand why you would go for your MOT with anything other than totally hot cats. Our equivalent is called "Air Care" and it's on a rolling road with the sniff tube stuck up the tailpipe. It is well known that to help your car (any car with a cat) to pass, you need to have the car up to full operating temp (or higher). Personally, I always make sure the car has been run hard (lots of boost) before getting to the AirCare test station. That way the cats are hot. Never failed yet, even with an RS2'd AAN.
