No one has said they expect to get back the value of mods! Everyone knows the only way to do that is by breaking it.

Really surprised it started with that old fuel, my urq didn't like the fuel and the fuel pump died whilst I was trying to see what worked. New pump, new fuel was needed.

@DEST im thinkin i cant afford for it to go wrong, maybe ill break it, surely the engine alone would be worth something to some1 somewhere. Any offers....

Problem is prices have dropped for engines recently, to be fair, if you can afford to get it and sort the car so its on the road, would be worth while keeping hold till its worth more.

These cars are getting stripped on average of 1-2 coupe's a week and 2-3 avants every week they are getting rare.

The only issue with this thought is that by the time the G60 goes up in value the S2 will also....

Again it relative - If a G60 goes up 10% to say £2200 from £2000 an S2 @ £4000 would also go up 10% to £4400.... or even more if they keep getting scrapped.

I did the tuned g60 to s2 swap this year, and like you said, lots of pros and cons. The corrado is a fair bit cheaper to run and to find parts for, but kept throwing up stupid quality issues like the sunroof not sliding and the door handles constantly breaking.
My g was chipped / pully'd, massive FMIC'd and newman cam'd, and realistically, once rolling, felt the same pace as my homefried avant S2. Its also lag-less, whch does keep the grins coming.

The S2 on the flip side, much more composed on the road, yes, its less chuckable, but its also alot more stable, predictable and confidence inspiring when pressing on. The S2 is also alot more refined, quiet on the M roads and generally a little more 'grown up' Build quality is leagues ahead.

Put it this way, the corrado is gone, and the audi is still on the drive :mischeif:

oh, not be be a **** or anything, but your raddo is very unlikely to be pushing 25bhp, unless you've slid a cheeky 16v motor in there and not advertised it.

250bhp thats what i was told when i bought it and tbh never questioned it cuz ive never had a problem off the line with a type-r and im sure theyre around 225bhp, maybe my car has more mods than that, i dont know, i just love driving it

I know it's irrelevant to you guys in the Northern Hemisphere but the S2 down-under is a rare beast indeed. Only 25 were imported between 1994 and 1995. All were ABY and cost around $120,000 AUD when new.
I bought mine in 2003 with 78000km on the clock. It now has 188000km on it.

Redbook and Glass' guide values them at between $9000 and $12000 now, but I have yet to see one change hands for less than $28k AUD. I own one of only 2 Kingfisher blue examples (Graham imported his from UK a couple of years ago so that doesn't count )

No RS2's were officially imported although 2 have now found their way here via New Zealand.

It makes the S2 such a unique silohette on the road and with the 18" S4 alloys hiding 6 pot Porsche GT3 Carrera Cup Brembos, it looks the part.

However. The down side is total lack of local support. Audi stealerships are not interested and have never heard of the model and the specialists scratch their heads and take a deep breath. I get ALL of my (limited) knowledge from this forum and S2central.net Without these sites I would have given up long ago. I sold my S2 in October 2005 at teh German Autofest in Canberra. It won best in class, best Audi and Peoples Choice Award. I was made an offer that my wife couldn't refuse and I sold my beast. April last year I managed to buy it back off the guy I sold it to. He had only done 7000km in 2 1/2 years. Some carpark damage to the rear bumper, but all was good.
I then went through the painful process of sorting it out. Head gasket blew = new ported head etc etc. Still haven't got the mapping correct. Spending more money on it each month. But. I love it. I still love the way it looks. I love the way the old skool turbo kicks in. It has character. It's like a stroppy, sexy mistress that I know I would never truly own. But it's addictive.

Guys. It's not really about the value of the car for me. It's not about transport per se. It's about owning a passion that's as addictive as bungie jumping or poker. When you win and the car is running well, nothing else matters, but when it goes wrong, you just want to end the relationship there and then. But to do that, you have to fix it up, then it's running fine again and around we go....

Bottom line. The kids can eat occasionally. Don't buy the S2 for any other reason than you love the shape, you love the character and you love to be different. Don't sell it hoping to get your money back either. All you'll have left when she's gone is the memories and an inner sadness when you do see another one driving past you in your mundane shopping trolley with the driver with the big smile on his face, because it's running well again!

                  Cheers

Karl's post nearly brought a tear to my eye. I suppose if I see a sorted coupe on the road it'll be akin to the feelings you get when seeing a hot ex you'd given the flick..
