you could always try relaying up the fuel pump andy. maybe the tuner did this? im not in the know on these but sounds like its backed into a corner by design.
dont be too down about it rollers are bnetter benchmarking and progress tools than anything else. as Espen says if you want inflated figures pick a dynojet. hp is pub talk.
if it feels better then thats a good thing. just so you know my pump with bigger injectors manages a further 1krpm or so. so the injectors are only rated slightly less than the max on the pump. good audi balancing.Comment

As I discussed with Andy before he bought the engine, I suggested an uprated fuel pump, bigger injectors and custom remap to get the best out of it. This was the route i was intending to go this year before I bought Alex's engine.

We sure can, even though I suspect that our Motronic is a little slower than the one in the B5's.
FATS is 4200 to 6500rpm in 3rd gear on the B5 S4.
Our gearing is slightly shorter than the B5.
However, the speed interval is approx 57-91mph.
Easy as pie to log using vagcom (even the £8 Ebay cables can do this).
Last time I tested, I got a FATS time of 3.25s on the Vagcom.
The accelerometer showed 3.16s from 57-91mph, so the values are pretty close.1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)

WTF is FATS on VAGCOM ?
Google wants to tell me about FATS domino and FATSlags get a recommendation too - but neither are helpful here.Paul Nugent

For the Advancement of The S4 IIRC. Espen's already posted the measurement RPM range. The speed results will be different to a GPS or accelerometer system due to errors in speed in both systems, mainly the speedometer.
Doesn't quite work in S2 world due to 3B and ABY gearing differences in 3/4/5.Cheers'en, AndyC

They first test on a rather low reading Dyno Dynamics dyno, 339whp and 378whp (most likely approx 450 and 500 at the crank, respectively). They then go on to test FATS times with vagcom and get 4.4s and 3.5s.1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)

'FATS' - now that is the most cryptic nerdy thing I have seen for a while - and I works with a lot of nerds. Jesus... I get it though - we can pick whatever revs and gear we like to do same comparative analysis. The B7 S4 engine tells us how much air its actually consuming which is also a darn fine to objectively see before/after gains in the real worls, but we cannot do this on the S2. All we get is something vaguely related to MAF voltage and only Jason Bourne could find us the MAF response curve to estimate g/s against that so its all a bit moot.
However - there is nothing new in using VAGCOM to log live data - a clever spreadsheet converts that data into an estimate power & torque curve so I like the approach if everyone uses the same reference points. This is like the spreadies that Rusty worked on for his GPS gizmo... and GTech uses the same principle only with an accelerometer involved.
Shouldn't be hard to standardise a 'FATS2' (rubbish name) for 3B and ABY - whether actual gear ratio differences need to be factored in...Paul Nugent

Absolutely. Pretty simple to make a spreadsheet that calculates acceleration from rpm increase per time unit, and from there into power and torque.
I haven't bothered with it, since I have the MR Dyno unit, though, which is designed to be/and seems to be, pretty much dead on with results from the Mustang dynos, and I can analyze everything from those logs.
The 4200rpm to 6500 rpm range will work well in our cars though. I barely have peak torque at 4200rpm, but cars that boost even later will suffer.1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)

Whats wrong with a wider spread - say 2500 to 7000 in 3rd gear ?Paul Nugent

No idea why they picked it.
Their FD should be the same as ours at 4.11, however, the 3rd gear ratio is 1.23 vs 1.32. Interestingly, the B5 RS4 has a 3rd gear similar to us at 1.32
Stock wheel circumferences are similar, if I remember correctly.1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)
