    bought s2 after looking at a few n/a 80's 911s

every one we saw had had some sort of major engine rebuild, bodywork and were all<150k miles

uncle was on his third trouble free UR and we'd previosuly put 175k hard miles on a kr 16v engine (similar head to s2) so we thought UR

    then looked at s2's

one we bought was 1/4 price of 911's we budgeted for (that price difference buys a lot of petrol)

first day we had it we had it at 140!

no one knows what it is, never looked back!

It's the best car nobody's heard of!
My dad brought a 10v alpine white UR when I was 11-12 (He still has it, my avant is quicker)
People get in clueless, squirm as it pulls through 2nd in a lane with foliage slapping both wing mirrors, get out wandering how a 16 year old estate made them squeeze random bits of interior trim
coupe 5S 10v, passat 20v santana, had a corrado but that left instantly when the s2 started absorbing cash!
I can fit my carpentry tools in the boot

Whats the difference between a porcupine and an m3?

The porcupine has pricks on the outside.

Knocked the guy down from £6500 to £5000 over the phone as he wanted rid of it. Went to have a look and it was a shed so with a bit of 'gentle arm twisting' we knocked him down to £3200.

Bought it, took it to the garage and realised just how much of a wreck it was. Starting spending money on it and have been doing so ever since. I don't regret a penny of it though and would never sell it as too much blood, sweat and tears have been invested in it by me and Jason at the Lion (amongst others) to even consider it.

It's all your fault that I own an S2

I wanted a practical, 4 door, 4WD turbo car that would do everything.
Took a Scooby out for a test drive but found it gutless and cramped.
Ben had his car RS2'd at this point and it was quite simply the fastest thing I had ever been in.
Dr H off this forum was selling his car, we went to look at it and bought it.

I'm showing my age a bit here, but I remember when they came out! I've been an Audi nut since the 80's, so you're going to notice when one of the fastest estate cars in the world (if not THE fastest) comes out back in 1992.(check the Billboard Poster statement in my signature - which I actually saw back then) you're going to want one aren't you?

So with a very young family and being an Audi nut, the S2 Avant was the dream car for me! Took me until 2000 to be able to afford one, but got a peach 1995 with only
58k on it and it cost me nearly £10k at the time.

Loved it so much, I kept it for 7 years and thanks to this forum, saved thousands from the info on here and enjoyed getting it Homefried + a Miltek. Almost totally reliable, a joy to drive and very fast.

High point? watching (on 2 different occastions & 2 different cars) 2 E46 M3's trying to escape from it 50-130 on an "A" road, with the S2 glued totally to their rear bumper (almost got past one - and it wasn't down to driver skill) whilst in their then £50k (ultimate driving machine). Whilst down by almost 60 bhp - that still shocks me to this day!! OK wasted them on Torque - but still!

Still really miss it and would have kept it if I didn't need the cash for the RS4! (S2 has a better gearchange than the RS4 (IMHO). Love the RS4 too though!

Always wanted a coupe, then I got driven in a RS2 with about 400PS or more. And then I've found out that coupe has more or less the same setup. Ewerything else is history. You can have all the cars for a daily but for a sunday sport thats the car for someone thats not a milionare (even they dont stand a chance and thats te best feature).

I always fancied an Ur quattro, but I can't weld.
I think it was hearing the Sprongl's S2 rallying in the late 90's that really made me want an S2, but Icouldn't afford £10k+ at the time. So I got a cq20v to satisfy my 20V quattro cravings for a few years.

you cheeky git! My Ur has never been welded and for what it's worth, it's totally on original Brake Pipes as well (bar the flexies). I still find that astonishing when I see my mates garage changing Brake Pipes on french cars (to name but a few) that are only 4-5 years old!!

My ur is 1988 and has 130k on it! Welded indeed?!
