Once had a BMW 02 that had some bad rust on a suspension box section that caused nasty noises, it got some carpet stuffed in and various cover ups of underseal etc and worked fine till I sold it....2 things to say, I was young ( ish ) and it was good quality carpet...
Sorry no pic's, didn't have camera's back then....

I just remembered patching up a dodgy sill on an old Astra when I was a student - with fiberglass, and lots of body shutz to blend it all in visually. I wasn't proud of it then, but figured that it was up to the nice MOT man to decide if the car was roadworthy or not. It passed and gave me another year of low cost, high quality independence.

Paul,
I for one am glad you got out of the ol' Astras, and the bodges
Throttle cable snapped on the way home from uni- many moons ago!!, car was filled to the brim with all my belongings, raining, dark, 15 miles from home so i ripped out the drivers door speaker and used the speaker wire! Lasted all over xmas till the part came in to the dealers..No GSF etc in them days!!
Seen more than a few scarey bodges as an mot tester, lower ball joint secured with a long bolt with one end bent over, the usual plates plastered in about a gallon of underseal to disguise the fact that they were tacked on.
Did laugh at the saxo owner who used a hoover suction tube as a cold air feed,
Another saxo ( notice a theme here........) Amplifier main power wire from the battery, across the engine, cable tied to the throttle body, fuel rail, brake master cylinder and fuel filter was a good one, especially when it was given over 3/4 throttle and tried in vain to stretch.............he did wonder why he had a dangerous notice...
The best one ever was on a discovery where the guy had put chipboard in to replace the rotted out boot floor, undersealed the underneath and painted the inside body colour!!, would have worked well if it hadn't been raining and it all expanded and started to crumble!!!!
Must remember to take pics of the prize turkeys i seen on a daily basis!! (Lots of farmers in these here parts!!!)

my mate had a 325i beemer and apart from the throttle cable snapping on that around 2 miles from his and me having to tie the throttle partially open so he could drive it home at around 3k the pipework for the idle valve started falling apart so I bodged it with the nozzle from a refillable petrol can cut down (black plastic bit) and it worked well enough till he sold it.
He swapped a alpine headunit for it (lowered, full stainless, black leather, m sport alloys etc) and sold it for £400 with a rotten boot floor (new owner even was able to push the battery up inside from underneath)

Wish i'd have thought of that when i was stuck at the side of the road at 3am after a night out on my birthday
On a mates nice shiny Ur quattro... Sold as mint... Direct feed from the LT side of the coil to the fuel pump... Wound along the fuel lines under the car... Nice...

Remember a few years back a friend of mine slid of the road with a BMW 318, hitting a telephone pole side first. After a quick look we found that the b-pillar was a bit bent at the bottom, and the sill was pushed in about 10cm. We stripped all the carpets and trims of and straightened the b-pillar with a sledgehammer and some heat, then cut a piece of the sill out and tacked in a new plate. A gallon of underseal (and some paint) later the job was finished. The doors on the right side didnt open very easily and you could still tell something was wrong just by looking at it.
The car passed an MOT the next week (one week spent driving on gravel roads to make the new underseal blend in), and got sold a while later. We now refer to it as the "Banana beemer".
Never stopped to think about what would happen if the car was ever in a collision again.

Lol, allright, I'll give you pics.
This one actually fooled me for some time. Bad repair by a previous owner. About five pounds of fiberglass in one piece. Had to change the whole rear panel.
