I had fun this year - despite me turning 29 and not claiming in that year Direct Line decided I warranted an increase of ~£500 on my premium. This would have put the insurance up to above what it was when I first bought a scooby at age 21, insured with - you guessed it: Direct Line.
I pretty much told them to go fornicate themselves and moved to Admiral who did me BOTH cars for about £100 a year more than I was paying last year for just the scooby!Haynes Manual:As described in Chapter 7...
Translation:That'll teach you not to read through before you start, now you are looking at scarey photos of the inside of a gearbox.Comment

Today I bought a classic car policy with Lancaster for £567, loved ticking some mods boxes and seeing the premium NOT go up
SDP&C, no NCB required, just 3 years of driving with no more than one claim and max 2 tickets on your license qualifies, 7,500mile limit.
That's only £100 more that my Gold TDi with 8,000 limit in stock form
For once, I feel like I am getting a fair deal!!

Yeah, you're telling me!
Pretty much every quote I run halves if I enter my parents' rural Lincolnshire postcode. Sonic's is pretty cheap, too (b*d
).
Since the effect is the same for 3rd party only as much as full comp, I'm guessing the logic is just that (higher population denisity) == (more other people to drive into) == (increased risk)? ie. it's not just to do with the car being stolen.
I also know my postcode isn't the worst though - I'm in a fairly good part of outer Leeds. Try running a theoretical quote for some dodgy inner city areas
All that said, I'm not going to move house just for car insurance. I'm just fortunate that I'm in a position where I can pay for it - although I'm still not gonna do so with a smile
