Back home now mate, thanks for the PMJees the cold weather has really shown up my "wan-li" and "sunny" tyres that are on the S6. I bought the car with them on but they are woeful altogether, can't wait 'til they're worn out so I can get some decent rubber on there.
OT @ NEWSH are you crossing the water? Don't be stuck for anything, you picked a nice weekend for travelling.
the ferry was interesting this morning at 8 AM, the bus nearly didn't make it up the ramp
Snowdonia looked gorgeous coming in to Hollyhead, clear blue sky and covered in snow! Couldn't convince the driver to take the A5 though
.. prob just as well as I've only just got back home now..

Got a nice new dent in the A6 today when a HGV decided to drive into Sharon on the way to work.
Meant I had to break out the S2, which handled itself pretty well in the snow. Saw a couple of kids eyeing it up with snowballs, so I put my foot down before they had the chance.

I seem to be being followed by this lovely weather. I went to Aberdeen on Wednesday and was heading back down to Glasgow at night, it took me 5 hours to get back as there were no gritters or snow ploughs about. The road was completely covered in snow all the way to Dundee from Aberdeen.
Then I went to Inverness on Thursday. On Friday things started innocently enough:

There wasn't much more snow on Friday, so I was quite surprised to find this on Saturday morning:

My mums dog was happy enough though:

So I decided that I'd better try and get back to Glasgow that day, as it was forecast to get better. To say the least, it was quite interesting. Drifting snow, blizzards, not being able to see further than the end of the bonnet and idiots who can't drive in the snow
It cleared at Drumochter:

And I made it home safe and sound, to a reasonably clear Glasgow.
Then I woke up in the morning:

Sorry for the completely poop iphone pics, forgot to take my camera. I'm on Pirelli P6000s (well 3 of them and one P600) and I've been getting on fine. Hopefully my winter tyres will turn up tomorrow, as I'm heading to Aberdeen again on Wednesday!
Cheers

I haven't finished the A6 TDi upgrade in time and had to put the Avus/Nokian winter wheelset on the V8
...
Simply superb. 10 inches of snow and quite unbelieveable how good the traction is... with the Dukes of Hazard sound track just an inch away. I thought the A6 TDi was good last year, but this is genuinely better. The auto will help no doubt, but when the old girl passes on, the Torsen is going in the back of the A6
