Excessively expensive to repair to a "new" MOT pass standard at a guess.

Is there a definiton of what an illegal modification is?

Is it just things that are illegal for road use, eg flamer kits? As engine swaps, turbos etc are not illegal afaik, as long as executed properly, and insured etc.

And there are a lot of oldies who cannot afford to get another car, my mum has already said that if the car suddenly needed a lot of expensive work she would scrap it and stop driving. Another way of getting old people off the roads.

Dunno what all the fuss is about - all these MOT changes are also covered by advisorys and they dont come into FULL effect until april , Im an MOT tester and unless you get a complete ******** of a tester most things will be fine! If your tester is presenting you with failures for items that do not really affect wether the car is safe (and subsiquently offering you repair choices with a hefty bill) then your at the wrong MOT station! At our garage we try to help people with there MOT and it seems this is what people actually want and it helps us to retain many many regular customers.

Why don't governments and eu knobs stop wasting our taxes trying to work out how to get more of the taxes out of us and concentrate on making the world a better place the feckless tossers.

I will bring this up with the guy then he failed balljoints anti roll bar links for the rubbers being deteriorated infact the wording was

dust cover excessively deteriorated so that it no longer prevents ingress of dirt ?? even though the joint is full serviceable

As i was aware this was only a advisory and should be until April

did you have cats on the stock car? mine is a 1991 and it didn't have them, so I am under the impression that if the car didnt have cats as standard, it shouldnt fail because of it.

I mean, say you had a '79 alfa spider, no way it had cats, surely they cant expect a non-cat car to magic up cats.

I think the confusion is with the early 3b s2s. which came with cats from the factory, but only had to pass the non cat emissions test.

I see... I was just applying it to my car as its a 1991 and didn't have any cats! be good to get a clarification on it though if I do end up getting an S2 at some point (which I plan to)
