    Hi Andy,

    Lowered yet ?

Any updates on the engine - with the new head, new turbo, manifold fitted yet ?

No pressure. Just interested in your feedback and photos.

    Thanks.

Not fitted the head and turbo yet, it's been running so well since I fitted the re-con'd fuel pump that I've not bothered. I need to sort out the prop-shaft as it's now making so much torque that it's shaking the prop shaft, not sure if it wants balancing or just aligning.

Also been collecting parts to overhaul the suspension as previous owner fitted the wrong dampers. I'm just waiting for new rear top mounts from Audi to convert them from 12mm Sport dampers to 10mm normal ones. I went for Sachs dampers as they were half the price of OE Sport ones from Audi.

Commuting it's around 37mpg and on a run 42mpg, it will go higher if you slow down, but I have my limits!

Well that was a right pain in the **** to do! I stripped the passenger side front suspension yesterday and replaced the damper, top mount, bearing and outer CV boot. Once I'd eventually got the strut out I found that both the track rod end and the bottom ball joint had splits in the rubbers and were all dry and gritty So now I've got to order more parts and do it all again

I'd also like to meet the bloke who wrote in the Haynes manual, 'carefully lever down on the bottom arm to remove the ball joint from the strut' Yeah, right! And getting it back together was even harder, not looking forward to doing this again

You're right, it a nasty job. You need to be be patient, creative, and careful.

Much easier on a B4, but when it is done on a C4, the results are worth it when there worn bits are replaced with the new bits, but as mentioned a pita when doing it. Worth doing everything 'while you're in there' to avoid having to 'go in there' a second time.

                    Best wishes with it.

Sadly not, apart from servicing I've not done anything to it. I suppose in a way that's good because I've not needed to do anything to it, it's been so reliable.

I still have a load of parts waiting to go on, suspension re-build to finish, head and turbo to go on, exhaust to finish etc etc. Now the S2 is back on the road I might get round to starting on some of them!

No worries, while I have petrol ones, a C4 2.5 diesel quattro still appeals to me also. So I could fix it and uprate it !

                              Thanks, enjoy.
