Don't bother with ITBs or the RS2 inlet, spend the money on the cams, remap and head work - should see 200bhp with a sports cat. Also, there are much lighter wheels than those OZs and you want some proper seats in there too. Gearboxes and gear linkages are a weak point too. There is a kit to fit a VAG box and a replacement gear stick bush kit too.

Every time I drive my old 172 (the missus has it now), it's makes me feel 18 again as it's just so naughty

I've allready spent £500 on parts, mostly essential stuff and service bits. Plan is to stockpile some bits and fit them over Christmas. I did spend £140 on a sexy suede OMP steering wheel though....

My gearbox mount is shagged, the alloy bracket has actually snapped, one side wasnt bolted down... I have ordered a complete uprated engine and gearbox mount set from Ktech, as all the mounts look shot, and apparntly they are notorious for this sort of thing.

Also fitting a new throttle cable. Some muppet fitted a new one about a year ago, mostly using insulation tape and routed badly! I don't think I even get full throttle at the moment!

Putting new DS2500 pads and oem discs on the back (fronts are all new brembo disc and DS2500 allready on the car)

Going to service it and change all fluids. Cam belt done last year.

I think for now that should sort most of it out. It needs new tyres so will probably go for R888 or R1R tyres.

And I can rip out the rear seats etc. I think I'll do all of this and then see how it goes, to make sure that costs don't spriral!

It is a breath of fresh air to see how plentifull and readily available all sorts of parts are though, and locally. The quattro has not been the easiest car to get bits for over the years!

Relocate the battery to the boot and then you can run the V6 airbox where the battery goes, with a straight pipe and cold air feed to the bumper.

Also worth relocating the washer bottle and look into a catch tank setup to stop it gunking up the TB and inlet manifold.

Oh, and enjoy being a hooligan too

Been working on the clio over most of Christmas.

Let's just say that the build quality isnt quite to audi standards, and I'm now extra familiar with my with my torx bit set!

Its nearly drivable again, and this sat I'm going to Mark Fish Motorsport to have a quick checkover, and if all is ok, have a 6 point cage fitted.

Mark used to race these in the clio cup when new and seems to have prepped quite a few cars, so he should have some excellent setup skills!

I have taken delivery of a new sabelt seat, harness and side mounts to fit.

I think this car is going to be a riot

I call it Va Va Voom:

When a light on the dash comes on, something squeaks, falls off or breaks, just remember that if it was made properly it would be heavier and thus a similar design approach to all aspects of the car would see a large increase in weight, resulting in blunted performance and handling.

            See ?
