Been doing a bit of thinking about this lately, mainly because a mate of mine has a really nice track going mitsi evo 5 that kicks the a*s of more modern and expensive track cars whenever he's out.
His is basically a fast road car with great suspension and dyno'd to suit track.
It really got me thinking of just converting my stripped 84 Urq to a 20VT track car with no frills.
I already fitted 986 calipers up front and H&R springs with koni shocks.
But i still get the feeling it would not be that agile on tight and technical bends i.e chicanes etc.
Has anyone any experience on this?
Im not so worried about power, but more about losing time on the tight and twisty stuff, as most of the tracks near me are not very long or big.
They tend to be ran around abondoned warehouses where the average lap is 1 minute long and is more about tight cornering and chicanes rather than insane power.
What i noticed over here (ireland) is that almost all the cars i see at track events in southern ireland (excluding single seaters) are all rally cars out for a cheap day out.
In my oponion there not focused enough on tracks to be as good as possible.
For example they all have two seats instead of one, along with other essential rally bits like spare wheels and in the case of the turbo'd cars they also have restrictors which isnt governed in track cars over here yet.
I would LOVE to arrive with my stripped out UR and kick some a*s.
Is anyone doing something similar

The number of fast cars that you see driven poorly is amazing. Just do it and have fun

I was approached by a surprised driver of a nicely prepared Evo with over 400bhp the other week after I "flew past" him
