You have some serious fabrication skills there!

Big question then..... How much do these motors weigh over the older fiver?

Thanks for the kind words. They are about 60lb lighter long blocks if you compare it with a 92.8 cranked car with a 48lb crank. A big bonus though is that about 10 lbs worth of weight is redistributed from the front of the engine in a timing belt configuration to the rear of the engine over the axle in a chain setup. A 10lb lighter forged crank, with no real dampener on the front of the crank(-10lbs), a 25lb lighter block, 6lb lighter head assembly, smaller fasteners everywhere, ect. The flywheel is a thinner flywheel design too, so even with our steel flywheel, it is only 14lbs. Uses 7a style clutch kits.

Shipping it to the UK isn't a big deal, we can air lift a built motor over for around 800 USD, or send it by boat for around 450$. We are doing it for several European customers.

Here is the newly released APR Stage 3 kit with a measly GTX3576r setup on pump gas. They are getting 10.7@137mph out of that setup, and this vid is a 6MT trans, not DSG. Sounds great

So what would the total cost be to send it over to Greece (engine and shipping)?

Built or just just an engine for you to build? 450$ mounts, 950$ baffled race pan, 375$ flywheel, 200$ oil adapter kit for extrenal oil cooling/filtering, and then the rest is just basically the same cost as building a bottom end on a regular 20vt. We can supply nice intake and exhaust manifolds, or the end user can make his own. The heads on these things are pretty darn nice and can support 700whp without really touching them. Any money you are budgeting for building up an oldschool 20vt head, that money can go into the adapter parts that will never need replacing.

VW sold almost 100,000 07k's in North America PER year from 05-13. That is 3/4 Million motors floating around in North America. This motor and it's beautiful head will be around for a long time.

Right, so a stock 07k engine complete is 800$ for a sub 30k mile example, and shipping would be 800 air shipped, or around 400 by boat

I can't wait to see this running!

So is it just the three items, mounts, flywheel and oil pan required to have one these engines mate up to an 01E and fit in our cars?

There is an oil filter that is in the spot of the drivers side motor mount that needs adapting, a 200$ item.

A bit o trimming to the 01E bellhousing is required as well (unless magic has happened in the last 6 months).

That engine looks awesome! Love the idea of actually having room in front of the engine, even in a type 85 chassis

Would ABY type pistons work in that engine, or are valve pockets angles and profile different? I'll hold on to my spare set if so!

Has anyone thought about / tried mating that up to an 016 tranny? For those of us that like lockers...
