The gearbox in this is still an N/a short one, yeh its weaker than a turbo one, but it shifts. (pun?)
The 944 turbo does 162mph book speed, this is about 147 tops. 5th is 1:1.

So when i went to pod this happend, even with a boost leak.

One fine day in the summer i was hooning home from work and spun no rod 2 bearing.

    And no 2 rod..

    hence bit of a rebuild..

    And went to a k26/8

    thanks keith.

and a dual port propper wastegate

With this set up it will be seeing over 330hp.

You would be amazed how many parts are shared between 944 and 80.
Considering that the Porsche 924 was developed as a VW and used a VW truck/lorry engine and was initially built at the Audi Neckarsulm plant, I would not be surprised by the sharing of parts between the 924/944 and the VW/Audi group cars.

Now, i would love a RUF 911 but i cant afford one, so instead i built the 944 that i think porsche or RUF shoud have.
This Decal pisses off porsche gimps, which i think is good, i like it and im sure it has been the cause of the odd 911 battle.

Also bought a 924 vented bonnet to cool things, unfortunatly it doesnt on a 944 , just the clutch fluid. Im sure it helps those crisp changes..

That was it for a while, i just hooned about in it, the power on that gearing was great, off the line it spun, difficult to launch and 145mph top end, but through the gears it was quite savage, and shocked many as they just saw it as a 27 year old classic car that had hd its day, milton keynes is mostly 2 lanes and big straights, many quick cars and there is often a drag off roundabouts, this is perfect for this car.
The 420hp xk8, new focus RS, various EVOs, i have wasted them all, its great fun, sideways/WG flutter/flames/lag, lots of it..

A pal did some nice pics-

then i took it off the road for a 3.0 converion and maybe going bigger turbo/cooler/injectors & maf kit. unsure as the 3.0 i bought is another bad Ebay purchase..
I did this to go big power, but tbh it ws quick enough, totaly reliable and a nice daily i maybe should have left it alone..

Great thread. I love what you've done to it.
I love how these cars look different from different angles, and after reading your thread I think I want one

                  This car is awesome!

Afaik, the weight distribution is 50/50!! So the chassis is much better than our old Audis

A friend of mine had one,I drove it with 260hp and was a nice experience.

I've heard that there are 5l 20vt swaps true? The thing is...why the people does it? Maybe because the 20v head? Because this engine has 300 cc more than our engines true?

Btw, these are pretty easy to tune right with electronic boost control and so on.
If you decide to get that done sometime, let me know

                        Good luck with the project.

Great car, this was my 944S2 that I owned for about 7 years before the Audi S2. Not nearly as quick as the Audi, but the handling was sublime
