I was a bit pissed about doing the engine again.
I removed it and sourced the new bits...

Forged rods (oem but hard to get)

I then built up an engine with most parts new, and painted it in Ruf's green.
I used the existing water pump as its not very old.

Not easy to get in or out, not like a lovely old Audi..

I got excited about it working again...
I bought new switches, a working clock, retro Alpine stereo, genuine mats with seat clips, 180mph speedo and some things i have now forgotten..

      So i ran it in.
I assembled a experimental Turbo with a k26 core, and liked how it spooled ect..

It sounded good out of here-

It was a while before i got it to fit well and then i had it rebuilt and balanced by CR Turbos-

And of course got some new bigger injectors..

There are also now Koni adjustable rear shocks to match fronts, club sport roll bars, enlarged intercooler and soon a 3" exhaust with down pipe.

I think that's up to date now..

I was looking at a late 944 Turbo on Pistonheads the other day. It is lovely (but about 12 grand) and it made me think of yours and then a day or so later, you post an update. Spooky. Thanks for the updates, it looks lovely.

            Thanks!

When I built this I could have got a decent 944T for about £3500, not they are 8-10k on average.
Mine is just a Lux on the logbook, so worth about £12.50.

Yep, they are definitely on the up price wise. Tis one of the reasons why I have been looking. I reckon it would make sense to buy a mint example for top money. I reckon they will continue rising and the 944 is (for me at least) one of the best looking cars I have ever seen. Throw in forced induction and the balance and handling they enjoy and you have a winner. Hugely underrated cars.

Yes, its a good time to buy a decent Turbo S, 10k now, most likely double in a few years. (not long ago they were £3500)

Mine was going ok, everything working as it should, nice and fast ect...
And then the DIFF FAILED! today..
I was told this would not happen, hence doing the conversion...
im a bit annoyed, its costing a fortune and not going far.
I need to go back to Audis.

Off to look in the classifieds...

Gav that is some sweet machine, such a deep gloss shine on that black. Tons of work over the years too, huge pat on the back mate.

I do love those Azevs too, had some on my Cabby, but not so deep, and now she away. Wondering if there are a set out there that'd fit me RS2... I love the cup rims, but loved Azevs for years...

Thanks man. I got a new gearbox, but il wait until its warmer to fit it.

I did swap it for a 240z, but wasn't happy with the deal so I unswapped. I think a car has to be German to float my boat.

I really wish id built a SWB Quattro instead, this was going to be a small cheap project, if I had known the hassle id not have bothered and gone all out on one.
I did buy the donor cars at one point, but was convinced to sell them.
