    Hoser, indeed, eh?

I am sorry for the thread hijack, eh? But the 'out and about' thing is real, and it's not a bad thing, as it means I can often spot a Canadian over an American fairly easily, eh? Although it's not 'oot and aboot', but more like 'oat and a boat', eh? It's quite subtle, but it is definitely there for some, eh?
Obviously there are other ways one can spot a Canadian, eh?

Then you would take me and most Anglophones in BC for Yanks then. The only 'oats we have here are steaming in our bowls with milk and brown sugar.

I've spent plenty of time up in BC over the years (20+ trips to Van, Squamish, Pemberton, etc.), and I can also confirm 'oat and aboat' to be a very real (and common) regional accent. Deny it all you want. I think many of the more noticeable examples were transplants from farther east in Canada, though. YMMV

BC has too many transplants to try to say we all speak a certain way. If you skiied at Whistler/Blackcomb, you would think we are all Australian.

But isn't this *supposed* to be about cars? Speaking of Australia, Canada did NOT get the V8 Holden that the US got as the Pontiac GTO around 2006-. I think the UK got it as a Vauxhall Monaro GT?

This includes bumpers, side impact beams in doors, headlights, engine mods (for EPA certification).

Tom S's is technically still an Audi 80 avant (WAU VIN, not WAC). That said, I don't know how is going to register the car, if/when the time comes. The Audi 80 avant was never imported into the US either. However, based on the 25 year rule, 1994 + 25 = 2019.
I am giving away trade secrets here........
Dave you are correct on the 25 year rule for importation, but what you and others miss is the fact that the US federal government does not issue titles nor does it register vehicles. Both of these are handled at the state level.

The state decides what it will title/register (add to its tax base). Some states are more strict than others. Generally speaking the further you move south the easier it is to do. Getting it in is the kicker.

BTW, most southern states do not even have vehicle inspection and do not do emissions testing either. Georgia did away with inspections back in the 70s and only metropolitan Atlanta residents are subjected to an emissions test.......the rest of the state does not. Let me just say that living in the north Georgia mountains has its benefits.

lol interesting post. I'm thinking about it but not sure if I will or not. It all depends what I could get a car (and maybe a spares car) shipped over and one registed for vs how much I could get another car thats all legal lhd and on the road when/if the time comes.

I live in NY and I can pick up the "oat and a boat" when I hear persons from the Toronto area speak.
