A lot of people will miss out the first 6 as they're not too important. In the case of the S2 he'll probably have omitted the WAUZZZ.

Thanks I prefixed with WAUZZZ and it came back as correct in the search.

Its a difficult one I really dont want too many more cars. My wife has a car as does my daughter, my son is just about to have one and I have one in bits in the garage.

An S2 would make 5 hence I wanted it to be a daily even though I may only do 20 miles a day there may be some biggish trips thrown in from time to time every month.

A diesel hack would be sensible but I dont think I could get away with an S2 hobby car and a daily as well.

I dont mind the running costs or the additional spend on regular servicing etc. Maybe I should buy one and try it for 6 months. If its looking like it would be better for just 'special' occasions I could always put it in garage and go for a plan B diesel... till my wife wants a clear out :-)

I've not got as many cars on the drive, but thinking about getting rid of my diesel hack once i have my RS2 running. It was my daily for a year. I only cover 8 miles a day. My biggest concern is leaving it in a carpark all day, plus it seems daft driving just enough to warm it up and then park.

Rusty has a point - the fuel saving covers half the cost of running the golf, and enables me to take the RS2 off the road, even with such little mileage... the golf gets goes 10 weeks between refills, the RS2 used to go about a month, which adds up over the year.

That said... if I drove more miles I'd feel more justified in using it daily, it would be long enough to actually enjoy it. I used my old S2 coupe for a 35-mile daily round trip from Reading to Basingstoke and averaged 23mpg typically. It's going to cost you about £50/mo to run it over a diesel, which is about what it would cost to run a hack, and not need any extra servicing - you'll be mostly servicing on age at that mileage anyway.

Just be aware, if you do drive it daily, that it's 20 years old and you might have some reliability issues.. that said my Golf is 12 and hasn't been any more reliable than my S2/RS2's when used daily and not fiddled with!
