I used the Halfords pro stuff for years up until I started working as a mechanic and for a year or so after that before I upgraded to Snap-on stuff, I have to agree that it's good value for money when on offer. I still use bit's of my original set and it's getting on for 20 years old.
A great deal ?

I love my little Halfords 1/4" set so much I bought another one just in case when they were on offer
My 3/8 set is a Teng Mecca Rosso, I've got a mini Rosso for under the seat of the bike. My 1/2" set is a Bahco which was also on offer and ridiculously cheap
Facom are very good, we have some at work. We've got some great screwdrivers too, but can't remember the name, the Pozidrive ones have a kind of grippy surface and don't seem to slip.

If you were going to buy the bottom box anyway then yes it is a bargain.
I have a few bits of Halfords stuff, good for the money, so far the hex bits have outlasted my snap on stuff! I have not broken any sockets either, and I have snapped truck brand sockets.
Whilst I would agree 6 point sockets are good, you need 12pt as well, do undo 12pt hardware.Current-2004 Impreza PPP wagon

Wow feeling the heat
I am only trying to point out that there are much better tools for similar money...and if they cost just a little bit more they will repay you 4 fold in the joy and ease of actually using a 72 tooth mechanism ratchet and socket set below.Enables 5 degree increments very handy in confined spaces.
So IMHO better value for money. The guy who possed the question owns one of the most discerning cars around and hopefully with pockets to match given they are so expensive to maintain.
The good part about the halfords offer is the box as they are outrageuosly expensive elsewhere.

This is my point and thanks for raising the awarness.Bahco is an excellent company from scandinavia and they are serious rivals to even the great german tool manufacturers.Check this set, we've been using the 1/2 drive sockets from my set with a 250NM impact driver..

The quality here and the price speaks for itself.....isn't that why everybody who has contributed to this thread bought an S2 in the first place.Serious bang(quality) for your second hand buck, but were megga expensive when new

I can get hold of a trade card if anyone needs to use it let me knowLooks like a great deal to me, I've got one Halfords box and loads of tools and the quality is great and I've not broken anything yet. The set shown also has a mix of 6 and 12 point sockets, so you're covered either way. Sure Teng and Facom are nice, but do you really need them for a home mechanic, I don't think so. See how many Facom tools you can buy for £399?
See if you can find anybody who has a trade card and you'll get it even cheaper.Comment

My 2pc worth on these and other brands:
I have a lot of old halfords professional stuff and I cant fault it, never managed to brake any of it.
All the "Clarke" stuff I have brought from machine mart has been good, their VAT free days are really nice!
I have a few snapon tools. If I was a pro I would have more but can't justify the price as a mere weekend spanner jockey.
For any special application tools Laser wont disappoint.
Anything you buy from Bacho will impress you, trust me

I tell a lie now I think of it; I did manage to brake my halfords 19mm socket but I was in an industrial environment and being an idiot. Replaced it with a 6 point "draper expert" item. Another brand worth a look.
PS; If you after pliers/gripps/side cutters nothing comes close to knipexsigpic
