[QUOTE=Tonks4x4;795146]I have since spoken to Nic, and he is humbled by the fact but is willing to contribute financially as much as he possibly can.

I had no expectations of receiving anything to work with but have been blown away by the response.

I like to think that I have done lots for people over the years just out of goodwill, it's nice that others are doing the same.

The offer still stands with assistance with yours Phil. I know you said that it's your enjoyment but Audi's for me is a hobby too

Nic and others have in the past had parts of me for nothing ,I was helping Audi and V.W. owners out when you were still at School ,but over the years in which I have had the s2 I have spent with many of the members on this forum in excess of £3k, true not all on one car or engine .
Nic is one lucky guy ,but will this kind of appeal be a regular yearly offer to members of this site to help out with the cost of running there cars ? I am not against the principle of what you are doing I have done the same thing ,but with out the publicity ,my only issue with this kind of appeal is what is good for one is also good for the rest . Nics position may be special but there are more individuals out there who are just as deserving of help who mite look at this and think why was I over looked. It may be an idea that you have an appeal of the most deserving member who needs help ,but where do you draw the line on help and some one taking the p*** .Once a forum or group of individuals start to offer this kind of help usually the flood gates open I have seen it before on other forums and the results can be devastating .

I am sorry if what I have said offends ,but with the years of being a member of many clubs forums car related and not these kind of issues can soon get out of hand ,it may not happen ,I am only stating what has happened to me in the past ,I rest my case.

Re-use the bolts and you break the block.

Absolute poppycock, stretch bolts cannot be reused

I don't know on the I5, but *some* stretch head bolts can be, as long as you can get them up to the correct torque they are OK. This is from experience looking at manufacturer's own workshop manuals, but each application needs checking!

I wouldn't let you anywhere near my car if you think reusing stretch bolts on the head is ok

but hey be my guest and apply this technique to your car

Mate, I am quoting from a Toyota workshop manual, it depends on the bolt design as I tried to explain above

I also said I dunno about the I5, so what gives?

Hey, lets get back to the topic in hand.

Danny already answered the question. Lets not clog up the Thread with argument and ridicule/sarcasm.
