Like what you are doing Brian and helping friends out is so important in life as you never know what the future may hold and if your circumstances changed then you know you have the backing of a good group of friends to help you out if necessary not enough good people in the world
With regards to the Nominee, I have no answers whatsoever to give a reason as to why he is more deserving than the next man.
We are just a large group of friends that are all very passionate about Audi's.
Nic is not as financially comfortable as the others in our group of friends so we have decided to club together just for the sheer kindness with no expect of a payback or anything in return.
We have extended the question of good nature to the wider audience of the forum as there are many people that have upgraded their cars and sometimes just bin the standard items etc.
No one is being forced into assisting in the quest but if you can thank you very much
Afterall it's not about being noble it's just what good friends do!!!
What does nick think about this ? I know you have offered to come and help me to complete my project but I have refused as I have said to you that its all part of the enjoyment to me ,yes I may be fortunate in that I have the space and in some cases the money but at times I have found it hard to make ends meet .I personally think that this could cause problems with members of this forum in the future as they may think that they to can hold out there hands and ask for parts for free .there is help in information and with obtaining parts at a reasonable price but a complete engine transplant for free this is a can of worms which you may have not wanted to open .From my own point of view what I have which is s2 related I will be keeping that may be being selfish but I work hard for what I have and I dont have many vices in life .

I have since spoken to Nic, and he is humbled by the fact but is willing to contribute financially as much as he possibly can.
I had no expectations of receiving anything to work with but have been blown away by the response.
I like to think that I have done lots for people over the years just out of goodwill, it's nice that others are doing the same.
The offer still stands with assistance with yours Phil. I know you said that it's your enjoyment but Audi's for me is a hobby too
It's a sad time when people are questioning why you simply want to help a friend. For me this type of thing is what got me into vw / audis in the first place. The camaraderie and community was fantastic and at the time things like this were an everyday occurrence. Every weekend spent round at mates houses doing engine swaps / repairs / prepping for paint or simply just making the tea. For no other reason than it's your mates.
Most of us love to help out fellow enthusiasts and I will happily provide a few surplus bits if I have them after I've finished mine, but I do understand where the negativity is coming from. I would quite like some EV14s, a GTX3071 and a Wagner reverse inlet PLS
Brian I'll have a sort through my spares tomorrow, I think I have the following bits from your list which are surplus to requirements:
AAN auto sump
cam sensor
crank sprocket
mfts
oil pick up pipe
pistons
rear crank seal housing
rods with serviceble used bearings covered 111k miles
tensioner/idler pulley
oil thermostat housing (has a small hairline crack in it, could be welded up)
thermostat housing
green knock sensor
timing belt cover

Wise words...Wise words.
Nic is a great bloke and fully understands and appreciates the offers of support and kindness. I shall be fetching and carrying parts for him from members and he's sorting fuel costs!
There really is nothing to worry about Phil
