I have to admit I had a chuckle to myself when I saw the picture of the engine bay of the £10k car. The only thing that was missing was a sand castle on top of the engine. Maybe it recently completed the Paris/Dakar race hence the price?
Totally agree that if he wanted decent money for it, it should've been presented immaculately
At least there are photos up now, I would say, who would buy a car without any photos but I just bought a GMC Safari day van which had no photos, went for starting price of £995, and turned out to be in very good condition with no dents or rust and recent LPG conversion, just in for MOT at moment.
I have an ABY S2 avant which is original and unmolested, am going to spend some money on it but keep original ,needs a respray then maybe coilovers but not sure how far to go without going too far away from original.
I guess all this discussion and adverts with silly prices could push prices up, scrap ones are definitely going up due rarity of parts, I paid £1750 for a cat d 3b light front end damage breaker last year.
Eric, sadly green is the only colour that I just don't like. Wish I did
I blow hot and cold on selling mine. I have seen some other things that I would like but my fear is that I would regret selling a few months after but i suppose if the right offer came along then I would.
Maybe I should re list my add ( it's probably still floating around the for sale section) and stick a 10k price tag to generate interest and conversation about it. But for that price I may stick in my wife and kids with the sale ( only kidding, maybe just the wife )
Good thread, interesting reading. Slightly OT but a Noggy RS2 has just reappeared for sale. Hardly a pic or description on it (save for pm me if interested..) and yet wants £16.5k for it. To me very lazy and agree with lot of comments on this thread.
well ,as for price, it will only go up in the future..
less cars & strong demand = price go up !
u can t find a decent car on continental europe anymore for less than 10 K€
i even saw some rubbish one sold for 7-8k €
the only poor value are S2 Avant which are going for scrap, but its a good investement too for parts !
in belgium, they will become free of taxes beginning late this year ( oldtimer ), so even more interresting to own.. another 1 year for mine and it s back on the road at no cost !
Well I've got a one owner me. 1991 s2 have just spent £2k putting it back. On the road after storing it for about 8 years. Those bubbles ain't what they are cracked up to be . Needed new rads new water pump few other rubber bits last ones I ordered tonight after some help on this forum. Anyway as far as value is concerned it's all a matter of what u want and can u find it. Mines done 70k miles was sold to me by my late father and £10k wouldn't buy it. Their an underrated future classic and getting rarer all th time especially if totally original. Mine will end up with my son at some point. Even by today's standards it's a quick car with great handling and may not have the kudos of th ur1 but obviously still has a following or this site wouldn't exist.
