On offer again, industrial top and bottom for £299

http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/storage/tool-chests-cabinets/halfords-industrial-6-drawer-chest-and-cabinet-bundle-orange

Instead of £349 bottom and £259 top.

They have it it blue, black green as well as red.

I think Kit has one of these in black and it does him very well, takes drawers full of sockets etc.

...and he's had it quite a while.

I settled for the 3 piece red 'Professional' version which serves me fine, even if it isn't quite as robust as the black 'Industrial' version.

I have indeed got older versions of the Halfords 'Industrial' tool chests, for the past couple of years I've been using the top box for all my socket sets and spanners etc and the bottom box for storing useful spare parts. I have a chest of draws I use for grinders, drills and heavy tools.

Before that they spent four or five years being used daily in a busy garage and served me well, I got them second hand from another mechanic and they must be at least ten years old. Not had any problems with them other than a coaster coming loose which was easily repaired by tightening up the nuts.

£299 is bargain for these, the professional ones are okay and perfectly good for a home mechanic but wouldn't take the daily abuse the industrial ones stand up to.

It's a pity they changed the colour to bright orange, makes them look cheap, black is much more fitting IMO.

Industrial sets are still black aren't they?

edit:
My mistake, they seem to have some bizarre offer where if you purchase in a hideous colour you get a reduced price £299 instead of £399 in the black. Is it legal to find the people who come up with these pricing schemes and punch them until they cry.

[Sonic]

Looks like the £299 offer is valid for 'orrible orange, bile blue or gash green only... http://goo.gl/ML85hl

[martinjs]

The black ones at £349 include the middle chest also, that offer ends on the 22nd.
Very good deal if you ask me, I'm tempted.

[andy10v]

You need to add the black top, middle and bottom box to the basket to get the deal, then it gets discounted £460 from £810 to £350.

Seems like a reasonable price.

[cardcrash]

Oh yeah, that's a sneaky one they don't shout about, worth it if you're looking for a tool cabinet set!

*How do you come by that deal if you're not looking for it?

[martinjs]

It's not on sonics link above, just do a fresh search for tool chests and it's at the bottom of the page.

Conveniently the page for it on the Halfords site just errors as well if you try to view it

The products you need to add to your basket for the offers are -

http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/storage/tool-chests-cabinets/halfords-industrial-6-drawer-ball-bearing-tool-cabinet

http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/storage/tool-chests-cabinets/halfords-industrial-3-drawer-middle-chest

http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/storage/tool-chests-cabinets/halfords-industrial-6-drawer-ball-bearing-tool-chest

When everything is added the total shows £349, and is £34 postage as well if you need that. I think i'll be ordering one, so thanks for spotting chaps... much better than the bright orange one

[Vorsprung durch Technik]

Yes thanks very much indeed chaps.Mine just ordered in black.

My will power is very weak when presented with a bargain.
