Just wondered if any engine geeks had views on the technical advantages of RS2 over S2 inlet manifolds.
I know the RS2 one looks pretty cool what with the inscription but is there a big advantage over the standard S2 unit, to be honest at around 10 times the price it should be quite a spectacular improvement really.
A few have commented that the RS2 inlet flow tract is not as good as the ABY,zero or even negative performance gains. The 3b is meant to be as good as if not better than all of them for flow.
Have a search, there are a few threads with some good info covering your question.
..as on a Superflow bench with 28 inches.
All within 4% max/min, within 1.1% of average or so, this is untouched right off the CNC. Just for reference 8)
I'm getting a 3B flowed right now for comparison 8)
IMHO that flow bench measurements are thrown-out money. Air flow inside the mani is affected by so much factors, and each of them varies from motor to motor, that nobody can say, what the result in real car using is. Change cams- another flow. Change throttlebody- another flow. Change air piping- guess: another flow. RPM band is 7000rpm variable. No flowbench can simulate that.
From the manis on the pics, I would take the Porsche one- because there is less difference between the cylinders, and IMHO that is more important than that little overall flow numbers. But this also is "trying", not more. Maybe it works little better in some way- but I wouldn´t be surprised if not.
And overall: Up to 500hp it is just the heck...Every common IM (Wagner, AAN, 3b, ABY, ADU) will do the job good enough.
Does the 3b inlet manifold bolt on and work on an ABY without any modifications to it, or anything around it or that bolts to it? I have a n ice shiny 3b one sat around that would look great on my ABY.
but in general all manifolds can be interchanged if piping or something else is not an issue, I mean the fixing points on the head are the same on all 20V heads - RR, NM, 7A, 3B, AAN, ABY, ADU
