    Audi Servicing Anyone??!

i called up ayr audi and asked them what they charge for servicing - they said that they did two services and the cheaper one was oil and filter service.

"what is included in that?" i asked.

"an oil change and new filter, sir"

    "ok" i said "anything else?"

"a new oil filter and new oil, sir"

"okayyyyy..." i said . . "what price does that come in at?"

    (*clears his throat*)
"erm, A HUNDRED AND NINETY POUNDS, sir"

"and what do i get for that?" i asked.

"an oil and filter change, sir" he said sheepishly

"new oil and a new filter? that's it?!" i enquired

    "yes, sir"

and that was the cheaper of the two options!!

the more expensive service was £390 and included "oil AND air filter and spark plugs too, sir.."

i don't think that i'll be using audi servicing in my lifetime - who on earth would willingly volunteer to be extorted like this?!!

Audi prices are just silly and personally I think customer service is bad. That sort of money just for oil and oil filter-crazy.

      My thoughts exactly!

Don't know what's wrong with Audi these days but what seams like just a few years ago something like 6/7 years my local Audi dealer would do an Oil and filter change,a Shampoo and Set,there words which always made me laugh and a Free Mot thrown in for £99.00 which the car passed.Yes i know the Mot was there to generate a nice revenue stream for them,......"Sir,it failed on .. .. ... ..and it will cost £1,300 to repair

I just performed an oil and genuine Audi filter change yesterday on the S6 Saloon for £57.00. No contest!!

Day light robbery.. The service dept in Audi act all surprised when the person asks for details on the service, enquiring for further info as to what he or she is actually getting for their money.

Begs the question of how many genuine Audi owners are there out there these days compared to those who lease deal them with a reduction in servicing costs. And there's those who are fortunate enough to not even raise and eyebrow or two on Audi's pricing and labour costs to give a hoot..

Don't even start me on Audi customer service or after care. Non existent from mine and the wife's experience. This past 18 months me and my Wife have suffered big time with these incompetent shower of sh*t *********. Painfully heart wrenching and utterly dejected. Will I return to the Audi brand in future when we are looking for a replacement. Hmmm who knows would have to be some deal. Sorry rant over

Slightly off topic but I am sure Audi shine like a bright beacon of success in comparison to the service I have not been getting from HSBC the last 6 weeks.

I will not go into it but they are the mother of all f***tards when it comes to customer service and bizarrely the inablity to offer basic banking services. Quite surprising for a company who appears to be so successful.

Its not going to be any consolation but in NZ the service varies with how the franchise is managed. In Christchurch, I found the same as above. Ridiculous prices (although cheaper than the prices quoted above). In Dunedin, the main dealer was fantastic. They were much cheaper than the dealer in Christchurch and even did some labour for free when they couldn't solve my intermittent alarm issue in the time indicated by the Audi schedule and I had a couple of parts replaced for free after they were recalled by Audi. Audi's head office in Auckland were very quick to follow up with customer surveys in both instances, particularly where there were any mechanical issues.

In Christchurch I got fed up with the main dealer and eventually took my S3 to an independent.

Audi is one of the more basic oil services, especially when compared to BMW, Mercedes or even Ford. However, it sounds like you just got a neep on the phone.

The Audi oil service also includes visual check of braking system, pressure check and visual check of tyres, testing of wiper function and topping up screenwash if necessary and lubricating wiper arm pivots. Though I've never seen it on their checklist, they also check all the bulbs too.

I'm not saying that this justifies the laughable £190 (probably before VAT, lol) cost, but you'd expect a service advisor to know the product and sell it to the customer.

I bought an S4 B5 6 months ago. It was 200'000 km car, 1 owner, all mantainance done to an Audi dealer 5 km away from my house, where in 30 years my family bought a 198x Golf2, 1994 VW Taro, 1995 Audi A6, 2004 Porsche 996, 2004 997 and made several jobs on a 993 and a UrS6 plus.
Many people inside there knew me, my father, my companies, and also the previous owner of the S4 and the mixbrand dealer where I bought the car from. All since years.
THEY DIDN'T WANT TO CODIFY THE SECOND KEY BECAUSE I HAD NOT YET THE CERTIFICATE OF OWNERSHIP OF THE CAR!!!
They said "if the car is not yours I cannot do it", even if they knew me.

                  Something wrong.

Oil filter, 06A115561B, about US$12 here, say £12 there. Say good OE oil is about £10, so say £50 (for 5L with the new filter). This leaves about say £128 for labour and shop expenses. Might be about right (assuming book rate is about an hour)

So spark plugs and installation an additional £200?

F5DP0R OE AAN plugs = 101000016AA = about US$16 here. Say £16 there? So £80 for the plugs and £120 for the labour and shop expenses? Sounds about right assuming book rate is about an hour.

The way we beat those costs is we don't value our time/labour at more than £0.

People who have no mechanical skills are going have to pay the price.

All that said, in 17 years of UrS4 ownership, my car has been in a dealership for exactly one time. For a fuel line recall. And they screwed that up.

Hard to leave the C4 UrS world when you can service the car easily.

Dace has a point, we spend time changing oils, brakes and timing belts and go oh look it's cheap, but if you consider the labour cost it would be much more expensive.

My old man had an a6 c&r diesel. Audi Worcester wanted 180 for oil and filter change!!!! I did every filter and oil using genuine parts for £160 and still made my labour cost. All parts bought using chassis number and vat registered.
Warranty still valid and half the price of the equivalent at dealer!

Interesting point, but hat would that warranty cover?

If engine went bang do you think Audi would contribute towards the cost of the repair?

Or just supply another roil filter ?

Not trying to be clever, just trying toget an understanding of peoples thoughts on this

EU ruling if follow service schedule and use oe parts and the garage is vat registered etc. They try to weedle out of claims anyway
