Really Sorry to hear this Ross, but the main thing is your ok.
If the car can be saved im sure we could work something out to get you back on the road, you have my number.
Sorry to hear this Ross. I know what I feels like to crash an S2. Nothing we say is going to make it any easier.
I echo David and Crawfords thoughts too, don't try and make a tale up. It could come back and bite you big time.
Hopeyou feel better soon mate..

Ross,
Really sorry to hear about this, but most importantly glad that you are in one piece.
I can entirely sympathise about the damage to your car having just got the thing up and running just the way you wanted it after so long. Not sure how the ambulance personnel got you out of the car, but you are lucky in some ways the roof was not cut off by the Fire Brigade as this is now standard practice! Hope the car is salvagable and is back up and running real soon.
Cheers
Chris
Very shocking news Ross. Glad you're ok though.
I can only echo what other people have said - Be as truthful as possible without dropping yourself in it.
Good luck.

Thanks alot guys, this makes good reading for one in my current situation It's reassuring to know I have you guy's support.
The police seem rather keen to come and have a chat. In my view, I was not being sensible when I passed the BMW a couple of minutes before, and he's made a statement. But I did slow off after, it'll be convincing them to believe that. I lost it in a 60-zone, i remember braking and the car jsut went sideways, slid across the round-about which is the start of a 40-zone and into the wall. I dont think i was over the limit when i lost it. I don't know how damaged the car is as i can't remember Aparrently the neighbour made comments along the line of if I'd not been so banged up he'd have made sure i was, so i doubt dealing with him is gonna be much fun.
I have the option of having an independent garage make the assessment, I'd far rather this than Whites of Reading who they wanna tow it to, but I have to pay for transport (which I'm willing to do) - should I do this?? I'd far rather someone look at it who has a clue about S2's, or it could be a nightmare... Assuming it's a write-off I'd like to get the car back too for parts. Is this possible?
I'd check the roundabout surface to see if there is any noticable diesel spillage on it.
There's a roundabout near us which is notorious for diesel spillage as it's next to Goodyears in Wolverhampton and the lorries come out full and always get a bit of spillage which has caused a number of people to lose it.
Was it icy last night near you?
I'm sure there's a plausable explanation as to why the rear end kicked out!
Really sorry to here this ross, glad you came out of it ok.
Seems you havent done anything wrong and it was an accident, you should walk back along the road and have a good hard look for any thing that could have caused a very stable and heavy car to come unstuck. Like coxy said ice/diesel could have caused it. Also look at the state off the road surface. hth get better soon mate
I had my car towed to my dads place after my crash. I had to pay for this but due to previous dealings with insurance companies it was my choice to make, not theirs. It's your car, not theirs.
An insurance assessor(sp) is duty bound to view the vehicle wherever it is.
As for keeping it, it depends on what class the insurance company place on it if it's written off, which to be honest sounds like they will (they just can't be bothered to repair older cars)
If it's dropped into a class that means it can be repaired (sorry, can't remember classifications) then you'll need to barter this out with your insurance company. They usually make you an offer on the car, then minus an amount for you to keep it.
"Whatever you do" do not let said insurance company baffle you with bu11sh*t. Until you accept an offer they give you, it "your" car. Don't let them tell you that you can't keep it.
Follow all correspondance on the phone with written letters, even to the point of sending them letters that they have to sign for at their end.
Of course, you can always not claim, if the neighbour wants his wall put back up, then he'll have to claim against you. If you're fully comp, then your insurance will cover it. You'll only have to pay your excess if you claim for youself.
Don't forget, it's your car, by insuring you, it doesn't mean they own it.
