The alternators charge circuit runs through that bulb, if you have an LED in there for some reason it doesnt charge properly. Infact it almost doest charge at all, at least mine didnt.
I found this out the hard way.

Ended up replacing battery, voltage regulator etc. when all it needed was removing the LED and replacing it with a normal 12v bulb.

As soon as i did that the voltage staid steady and it charged again.

Someone on the forum pointed this out to me.

So if your converting to LEDs dont change the Battery one.

Bo, without knowing the above prior to this post, I changed my battery led to blue a good few months ago, There has been no problems since.
