well, that seems to be fairly comprehensive and good to know that the J model (which is readily available and half the price) is just as good as the H model . .

        many thanks!

I don't think your problems are over yet ,with the turbo and manifold glowing red like that. I had this issue. It was caused by a faulty tps making the car run lean .

Another cause of this could be a blocked turbo coolant return pipe, they can gack up solid and the turbo fries.

interesting that you say that as the car pulls really well from 3000-4000rpm then kind of runs a bit flat, almost like i should change up a gear at that point.

what is that TPS thing you mentioned that's causing it to run lean??

Seeing that I am such a terrible teacher, I will let you discover the throttle position switch (potentiometer) by clicking on one of the live lables in this live version of my UrS Engine Bay Device Map:

ok, what about this symptom - had the car out for a blast this evening and pushed the loud pedal all the way forward and saw it soar to 4250rpm easily then the pull seems to slow down towards 5000rpm when suddenly a huge backfire happens through the exhaust!!

                        any ideas what's causing that?
