I don't think your problems are over yet ,with the turbo and manifold glowing red like that. I had this issue. It was caused by a faulty tps making the car run lean .

Another cause of this could be a blocked turbo coolant return pipe, they can gack up solid and the turbo fries.
interesting that you say that as the car pulls really well from 3000-4000rpm then kind of runs a bit flat, almost like i should change up a gear at that point.

ok, what about this symptom - had the car out for a blast this evening and pushed the loud pedal all the way forward and saw it soar to 4250rpm easily then the pull seems to slow down towards 5000rpm when suddenly a huge backfire happens through the exhaust!!
