  • Aftermarket oil cooler in original space - S4C4

Hi guys, any solution for aftermarket oil cooler in place of original one? All mounting points are rotten on this car and dont6 fancy replacing it with slightly less rotten used one.

I know there is front mounted ones, but would prefer original location.

    Thanks

Not sure the location in your car but, I made a bracket up to install a cooler in my 7a engine bay in the same location you would find it on an s2. Works a treat. If you have a welder, drill and a saw - you can sort it. I had to make the duct as I never had one to start with, hopefully yours is servicable still.

Do a search for cooler and bracket and there are loads of other inspiring posts and maybe one for your specific car

I used a stock cooler from a vw heritage model if i remember, fits to stock location and pipework, just a bit larger. May dtruggle if you have the oem undertray but i dont run it anymore so no issues

Is 3B similar to AAN in that respect? Looks like a great option.

Hi, don't remember if 3b and aby has the same oil rad.

                            And some questions:
                            - Isn't too small our oem cooler, or not?
                            - all oil cooler system is a good system? Or is a parallel rubbish system like auxiliary rad from coolant system?
i mean, when thermostat open the oil rad circuit, all the oil pass from it? Or only the oil that's is there?

                            Thanks guys!

I have put a mocal oil cooler in stock location at slight angle using on existing captive nut and onto another existing fitting with aftermarket hoses, there is more space than it looks can take a picture if it helps, its a 16 row I have used and has actually helped temperatures on hot days recently
