Ok guys and girls, the latest update is my insurance will pay me £18000.

They will come remove her and take to a garage to inspect fully then be put into crusher,
I guess I've made the yard workers task easier seeing how I've stripped her interior out!!

So it just remains to say that I'm not sure if anyone is this keen to buy a very rare flooded car for this amount so my presumptions are simply that she will most likely be going....but if anyone has that amount and knows the car feel free to offer same and she will be yours, I can arrange a trailer to bring to you if you are serious...

EDIT - I forgot to mention that I told them I'd contact them by Friday to inform them what my intentions are...

          Very sad day

          😒🙁

Would the insurance company not be willing to sell it back to you for a small amount?
Here we can negotiate, i.e. I can take portion of the value and keep the car.
It would be a huge shame to crush this car

Pretty sure you just don't have the option with a CAT A

                Ridiculous in this particular case....

Harsh reality is that 18k is not bad compared to what some insurers might offer. Sure, it is worth more in the real world but cat A means this wont live. Sad sad times indeed but im glad they didnt fob you off with a mickey take offer of ten grand or something like that.

Quick. Go and buy a black 80 avant. Put your number on and let them take that. They are that stupid they won't notice. Happy days. Lots of parts for the needy.

                        English law is beyond stupid.

Yes. Agreed. They would not have a clue about half the things on that car.

This would be a good option but the law may dictate not possible?
Does anyone on here know a registered breaker how might know?

You would think the insurance would Cat B it, then auction it off to a registered breakers, it would get them a good bit?

Probably, as long as would be cat B.

I'd be interested to know how much the insurance would look to sell it for?
If they've paid out £18k, what would they realistically want? Guess it could go out to auction?

But then you come round full circle as to why it gets crushed, to stop any safety parts like air bags, seat belts, and vin plates, shell etc, coming back on the road from any unscrupolous potentials who could get it at auction....
