tdi brake upgrade

got A4 solid rear brake disc at rear( 98 a4) its got correct shape and fits rear stub axles..............mine avant is front wheel drive

running 3b 5 spoke wheels n monent
rear calipers fit disc no problem

use v6 front driveshafts as outer joints same as s2.....with no of splines and abs ring on joint on outer works ok
v6 audi inner drive shafts have those 3 legged inner joint like on diesels

get manual v6 shafts

hope this helps



but need info please ojn setting up cruise control..............i was thinking lines of a4 diesel set up....due to the drive-by wire......ideas??

s2avant: i got cruise control in my car and i have installed it by myself. the only issue is, it can be fitted only on the latest 1Z engines with (the ones with 202nm torque, smaller turbo, LMM on the boost hose...)

I've got the 028 906 021 AP ECU. I've also got an 028 906 021 D non-immo ECU. These are MSA12 though and I think the last cars had MSA15 (028 906 021 ET/FE)

Am I correct in assuming the MSA12 ECU's can't work with cruise control? In VAG-COM group 11 or 12 (I can't remember) shows cruise control settings but I don't know if they all do that.

uff im not into ecu serials. if you have the newer engine, it is possible, if not, forget it. the vag-com shows nothing about the cc. not even when you insert the activation code. not a single sign. it just works. and it is great.

enter 11463 confirm with Q key
select 06 to excit

my dealerships got rid of manuals had to beg like mad to get manuals on 80 from guy who took them
was going to do this set ages ago but due to lack of funds didnt
done my 5 stud conversion/ and 90 light tailgate...swop white dial jobs

thinks its about time to do something interesting
will pick rest on wiring set up i can get my hands on.....here or at work
i have basic computer so cant email data can post items if found............my emailk is john881000@hotmail.com (leaving email address to prove i not a hassle..........

remove the panel under the steering wheel. search for a yellow 5 wires plug in the left corner. if you find it, you are in business.

is there seperate wirinng harness yoou can buy off audi to plug straight in??
if so do you have part numbers?

What a busy day this has been.........

S2AVANT you are correct in saying finding wiring diagrams for diesel cruise control; is hard to find.........searched all diagrams i could find....at moment nothing.....just for petrol set ups........

QUESTION ...could we use setup for the A4 diesel?? 1.9 engine 1z code
if we check pin desecnations between A4 and 80 would ..
work???..both work on drive by wire.............just a thought

SKULL23 Spent lunch time removing underdash panel...looking for plug.....
not found yet but will carry on looking.....................let you know..
when/if i find itdo rememder a plug where ???...but will look ....
again tomorrow..........


ASKED spares/parts to see if extra loom was avaible..........still waiting reply

I've gone through the family album and ther isn't a loom available that I can see.

A4 wiring might work, the ECU is the same. The schematic also matches the Audi 100 diagrams I have.

The problem is that according to my Audi 80 wiring diagrams pin 34 is used for the MAF

I've not had a chance to take my dash tray out and have a look yet. I need to get under there though because my glow plugs have stopped working. i think I may have dislodged the terminal 30 feed when I was fitting the electric windows

While we are discussing diesels can anyone confirm that the 1Z can have cruise control activated on it? According to the workshop manual it can but according to the family album it can't

looks like diagram i was looking this morning...thats what gave me the idea........i dont understand electroniics very well.............and dont wanna spoil my cars preformance at present by blowing anything.......runs very well indeed.....
elsa doesnt cover any thing older than A4
used A4 accelerator postion sender on mine as my previous one was fautly....new one too expensive went to SIMPSON SALVAGE got one out a A4.........made throttle more responsive....then remember seeing plugs but also fitted electric windows since and wiring is a bit full.....underdash

should be getting colum switch by thursday 78 pounds
hoping to find plug mentioned by SKULL and be having cc by weekend
