I am really suspecting the MAF so hopefully I will have a new one in my hands shortly. Luckily I have the cheapo MAF from the later engine.
Thanks for the input. Tape trick is interesting...but since I have a new one en route I will just replace it anyway.

I can hear my turbo. Looking at the logs I did, it is understandable as I was running 2.8 bar peak. LOL! Strange though as it was still kicking out black smoke. I need to get the new WGFV in there and get the boost control plumbing looked at as mine looks wrong. THat boost explains the fault code though. Mihnea semed to think that the MAF readings from the logs were normal but I atill getting a new MAF.
Doug, you considered a catch tank mod to reduce the oil in the breather system? I think and Spink/Matinjs special coming along...ie 1 ltre oil bottle! Brilliant mod, well implemented IMHO. Got to look at the cost effective options.

Whistling turbo could eb a leak. Check those hoses Skull. Mine had a massive split in the same pipe Doug pointed out. Explains the source of all the oil in the engine bay. Too much oil vapour in the inlet for my liking though.

Those hoses split regulary on A4's and Passats. If you boost is OK, then the MAF is not at fault. 2.8bar???? even if thats 1.8bar boost. Then that is was too high. No wonder is whistles.

Some tiny KKK thingie, dunno what exactly tho... IMHO you can fit a 1.9 130HP PD turbo+EM assembly but I'll have to double-check to make sure... but then it'll need injectors too, as more air only won't bring you a single more HP on a diesel...

2499 mBar absolute is the most boost you have in that log that you sent me!!!!! Look again dude When maxing out the MAP sensor you get 2560 mbar.
190Hp will never work on that clutch, it says bye bye at 140HP already, but if you get a real clutch and a real transmission in there, why not do 190HP?
