Still pretty piss poor packaging. He could have at least wrapped them in the t shirts.
It looks as though he has quite literally chucked them in a box.
Agree with Bry here. They should have at least been boxed in individual sets with the bolts to minimise potential damage/loss. Perhaps he thought you had a 50 cylinder engine!
Another sorry example of someone who has overpromised and underdelivered.

Yeah, I have one off, an can't get it more than 1/2 way back on

But... suffice to say, they are not joke rods - they do come apart!! Best just to leave them on until you're ready to play, I guess. I figure, start torquing those bolts in and it'll soon come all the way back together!

My rods turned up today or more correctly they arrived at someone else's house about 3 days ago as the package was wrongly addressed (although the invoice was correctly addressed). Fortunately the neighbour who's house it arrived at knew me by name but not where lived and was waiting to bump into me which she did today.

SPM's packaging really leaves something to be desired. It arrived in a similar condition to Bry's and through a hole in the corner of the box you could see the bolts which were all loose, thankfully none escaped, despite the hole being big enough. The only padding inside the box were the t shirts and a bit of cardboard. Also no lube.

But at least I have them now and at a bloody good price to boot. Just have to get enough courage/cash/time to work out what other mods I'm going to do when fitting the rods.

@ Ross: Thanks for organising this, dealing with SPM and for putting up with all the hassle as well as us nagging you. Your a star

NOT all audi conrods are revolverbored thru the bigend,to the little end,ive seeen this ONLY on big dieselengines(+500hk).the oilhole in the top are enough.all the other conrods ive seen,for the volvo,bmw,ford h-profil have only the hole on the top,not only SPM's,but P.O's and others.
The package wasn't nice ,thats for sure, send SPM a notice of that .he's little shop have not very many people to help herselv,i think it was 3or 4 people,but ALLOT of work....... he been a cartuner for atleast 30 year(may 40 to) . that was me,i told him to get the h-profil conrod for the audi,when i was visiting him.he is a VOLVO cartuner of profesion
i hope the product are great for you guy's never seen anybody complain of he's parts on any forum

Well a big up to Ross for all of his efforts , after seeing some of the poorly packaged rods here I was unsure whether mine would reach Australia intact..!..but my apprehension has turned to relief now that I have them in my grubby little paws ...and they arrived in a solid little box which appears to be direct from the manufacturer too.

Yeah I too thought it strange when I noticed the origin of the rods, moreso when to my surprise that instead of a T-Shirt I found a neatly wrapped slab of hashish in the box, but who am I to complain, that's obviously just a sign of Stens commitment to improving customer relations.
Nice one Ross , I'll now be requiring another 40 sets of rods.....

I ordeder bigger set of rods from SPM in december. After several delays I got them in March, one rod and bolt short. in boxes of 4 rods, while I ordered sets of 5. Weights (w/o bolts) warying between 510 - 523 grams.

Quality of his service didn't impress me much... Not looking forward doing business with him again.
